Naim app update version 5.7
Posted by: Richard Morris on 15 July 2017
I've updated and when opening the app I'm shown two Mu-sos (I've only got one).
Only the second option works. I was also asked to register my product, which I did on purchase, over a year ago.
Apart from that I can't see any other issues.
Was working extensively in the latest Production release of the App (5.7), re-building my UPnP Playlists, which following a move from Asset R5 to the R6 release, which means the UPnP reference changes - pain yes, what was worse was continued and repeatedly App crashes, every 5 minutes of looking at an entry in the UPnP Playlist, then jumping over to the library to locate the required track/album for inclusion in the playlist.
On every restart on the App, it was back to 'Finding Rooms' even though I only have one Naim streaming product on the network - pain in behind.
Is this release does not seem to be production ready in terms of an acceptable Quality in terms of stability & operation - has it gone through a QA process?
Simon.
Thank you Richard for opening this thread. I was ready to open and ask what could be the bugs and improvements said to be fixed and made with the update.
Should we read now from Simon that our Playlists are doomed? I am away under the sun for the next two weeks and won't be able to sleep with the songs of the cigales before I return and find out. Anything else we should be thrilled or worried about?
Chag -
Point of clarity - my UPnP Playlists needed to be rebuilt as I had updated my UPnP Server from Asset R5 to R6, nothing to do with the Naim App release.
The Asset release, as a major release, changes the structure and allows multiple instances, which requires a new library to be built which changes the UPnP index reference used for all tracks. So the UPnP playlists stored in the Naim Apps need to be refreshed - this was known as I was making the update.
My problem was the App crashes while I was doing the update, and having to go back through the 'Find Rooms' screen each time, the App is restarted (I am getting this screen a lot, which is a pain)
Simon.
I might be wrong completely, but could it be the case that the Atom is about to ship and Naim have had to go with the app even though it's not production ready, else why update the app when not fully functional.
I was able to delete the extra Mu-so by tapping the three dots, top right of the screen.
