Kudos vs Spendor

Posted by: Toto15 on 20 July 2017

Interested to hear any viewpoints from members who have sampled an A+B test to compare  S20's & D7's?

Looking to pair one of these with the new Nova.

Demoing ATC40s with something like the qute will be a disaster.

Bigger Kudos will shrill same as those Spendors.

It's a useless plan.

Look how happy this chap looks. Short at the back, fancy at the front, at attention on the sides, and like an invisible flat fish on the top.

This is how your system should look.

A school of fish as apposed to a flock of fish.

Or a flock of seagulls. Wasn't he the singer, or one of them anyway? Surely there weren't two people with that haircut?

Indeed there is another is the shape of Chandler in a flashback to his high school days in Friends when he was emulating his favourite pop group. Very funny episode.

Yes I believe he was or still is, hence my flippant attempt at some cryptic humour, not one of my strong points i'm afraid.

My apologies to the OP for the sidetrack .

I just did a demo of the s20s, my existing speakers and kef reference 1s, cannot talk about the spendors

but found the kefs hard work to listen too in short time, fatiguing in contrast the s20s were like wow, nice rounded sound with lots of detail and were great with wide range of music I like

almost wished I hadn't heard them now though............ As really really want a pair now

I have experienced S20 and now S20a over two periods and in two different rooms in our house.

S20 in the loft, I had to work a bit with the acoustics and placement, but the end result convinced me to purchase a pair of S20a.

S20a are really good in the basement, I sat them down approx 30cm from back wall, after some listening I moved them together, making some long 2 m apart and 1,5m to side walls. Top end as sweet as sugar. In the same room I struggled to get the T88 Titan working. I have changed the room a bit so that may affect the result.

I have read reviews on both Spendor and Kudos having issues with the top end. To my understanding it all comes down to system balance, room acoustics and personal preferences of course. Therefor, choosing the one over the other cannot be led by others experiences!!!!!
