Random Play on Uniti Core
Posted by: Quads on 21 July 2017
Hi,
I recently installed Uniti Core into my system and have a fairly sizable number of cd's ripped.
My question is: How have Core owners here set up 'random play' for all tracks, not simply within a given cd?
For instance, when I que Artists, then touch 3 dots on top right of screen, 'play all', and then hit crossed arrows on bottom, I am still only shuffling within a particular artists cd('s). I see the the other artists listed at the beginning of the process, but can't 'bring them in' to be considered for random play of all tracks.
Thanks for any responses!
Are you using UPnP into a Naim streamer? (Maybe time to update your profile.) I don't have your problem with my Unitiserve, but maybe the Naim app behaves differently when controlling the Core over SPFIF?
Hi CHRISSU,
I'm using the Core with a SS Drive to a Cord Mojo (no NAS) then to the 282. The Core is controlled with iPad and/or iPhone.
It may be a matter of creating a list of some sort, or possibly deleting something from a que.
There are times when I will stumble upon random play actually, but not aware of any particular sequence as to why it worked. What may kick me out (of random play) is playing an album I am interested in (often on repeat) and then coming back to shuffle/random. It's at this time that tracks of all artists are not being considered, but only the first album on top of the list.
In the meantime I'm having a lot of fun with the the Core and enjoying the best digital replay I've ever had!
Thanks for the reply
If you were using a Naim streamer, I could probably have suggested a solution, but you're not, so probably best to see if another Core user can help. With my Unitiserve, I don't have your problem, I can select all tracks from a list of albums, artists or tracks, and set it to random, and it will then play the whole track list in random order.
O.K. I had ocassion to reboot the iPad and iPhone and this seemed to do the trick for me.
Thanks CHRISSU
Quads,
I have a Rega Apollo R and a Naim 82 with Supercap. How would you characterize the sound quality difference between the Apollo R and the Core/Mojo setup?
Thanks.
CEVERETTE,
In general terms I have enjoyed the Apollo R very much for over a year or so. Adding the Mojo dac has increased the articulation of instruments quite a bit, and has brought me closer to what the musicians were trying to expepress.
I'm new to 'computer audio', at least in my system(s) and still scratching my head sometimes when listening my old favorites. Is it the Core or 'computer audio'? I'm sure it's probably both, really.
I'll mention a few impressions:
- The Core has a lighter touch to everything. Nothing comes across as heavy, warmish, congested, overwrought, confused. CLEAN is my favorite word to describe the replay, whether musical passages themselves, single instruments, or trebles. Also, clean in that there's no sense of something extra 'attached' to these items. Interplay of instruments is affected, and they fall into place quite differently from what I'm used to on cd replay. Just the music, as they say.
- Another thing that I've noticed has to do with the 'spread' of the soundfield. A greater lateral spread, actually. I hear instruments occuping this larger space and therefore are more whole and complete. Kettle drums are more whole and distinct, and that's always fun isn't it? Also, the intentions of the musicians, even small parts say, come through noticeably better, owing I feel to the ample spread available. The Rega, (or is it cd replay in general?) portrays instruments more in a ball, pretty much on top of each other, comparatively (lots of fun though!).
I've been tempted to get into 'computer' audio just on the basis of convenience, and random play of my whole library, but wary as to whether it would produce better results in and of itself. The Core (and/or 'computer audio') does for me.
Regards
Thanks a lot for your reply, your description is very helpful. One follow-up question: Did you have the Chord Mojo on the Apollo R before your got the Core? Or did you get the Mojo when you got the Core?
Thanks again.
I used the Mojo for several months with the Rega. Great combo
