nSats wall mounting...

Posted by: ken c on 24 July 2017

i have mounted my nSats using naim wall brackets. but i have 2 questions, only for those who actually know from experience of owning a pair and doing this type of installation:

(a) how high should the speakers be from the floor -- i have mounted mine to be approx. same height as Linn Kans on Kan stands?

(b) did you bother to screw in the bottom two holes (through the studs) to the wall?

many thanks

I suggest you find a way to experiment with placement, playing a variety of music.  If you can't fashion temporary "stands" then have two volunteers hold them by hand.  I expect you should use all the screws to firmly mount the brackets with no rattling.

I completely agree with Charliep.  We have nSats on the Naim floor stands.  They belong close to the wall but the actual sound depends on your room and your related gear.  I would mount them with the tweeters at ear level when sitting, generally consistent with the height of the Naim stands.   What amp are you using?

thanks guys. i know about 'close to wall' having grown up with other similar Naim speakers (and i also have a pair of SL2s)

Skip, as a matter of interest, could you please tell me the distance from the flow to the top of the nSats on the Naim stands? Many thanks.

34.5" with the spikes.  This works well with the NaitXS and Flatcap2XS.

it turns out that i have installed mine at 35" from floor to top of the speaker -- so, very close to the height with stands! so i will live with this for a while and then finalize the installation in the near future -- tighter rawl plugs, tighten screws, etc

thanks again...

Good stuff, Ken. When I had mine, the little studs on the back of the speakers needed gently nipping up too.

thanks Chris -- will definitely address this in due course -- else the sound will be somewhat 'unenchored' :-)
