Disappearing Alerts
Posted by: Paper Plane on 25 July 2017
Last time I looked there were 160+ but now it says 10.
Where did they all go?
steve
My alerts have gone bonkers. Was only just the odd ones showing someone else showing an interest in something I had committed. Now it shows everything what everyone has posted since I last logged in.
Not seeing nuffink, we should compare notes on what we have ticked/checked in profiles
I only have a few alerts (about 20) and 4 correspond to R Dane's activity. I follow R D but never before received alerts when he posted. I'm sure it's not all his activity in the forum.
In my profile, notification settings, e-mail and alerts are checked and then in miscellaneous, suspend e-mails is also checked, then is ok to receive alerts when RD posts, but this never happened before. But I can't belive RD posted only 4 times since July 18th.
Have gotten about ten spurious alerts in the last day or two - no pattern at all.
I've had 17 alerts from overnight to this morning, they are alerts for topics that I'm following, this hasn't happened before. These previously came as e-mail, now they come as e-mail and alerts in my forum profile.

Me too, logged in just now and 179 alerts since yesterday evening.....before it was occasionally one or two mainly from people who had liked a post of mine.. totally unusable and irrelevant now.
I have everything switched off and get nothing, which seems the perfect scenario.
Something has been changed in settings without our knowledge.
I went through and unticked a box about emails/notifications after trying unticking a few others without seeing a change. Seems fine now.
Would have been nice to let us know...
Up t this morning I had not received any alerts, but as I have a lot of boxes unticked I guess one of those is the one. I think Nigel's solution is the most elegant ............. everything switched off, is the perfect scenario. Hoopla need to understand us ol' grumpy's don't need this stuff, it does not need to be a variant of TwitterFace.
For some reason, Hoop la have made a change to the how the back end of the alert system works, this having taken place in the past 48 hours. Supposedly, member alert settings etc.. remain unchanged, but on this evidence I would suggest members double check to be sure. Hopefully it's just a glitch that has been prompted by the changeover and normal service is now resumed, but please do check if you are getting spurious alerts. Thanks.
No, still bonkers.
It's worth going through the primary notification settings in your notification settings in your profile. In particular make sure the box at the top about being notified about replies to topics you are following is not checked - unless you specifically want it to be so.
Richard - I also have the same problem. And I don't really understand where the setting you're referring to is. Could you possibly post a screenshot?
I am having a Deja Vu of following the online instructions to set up the Unitiserve again.
Things seem to be alright for me. About half of the boxes are unchecked in my profile and the two alerts I have are for checked ones.
Go to Notifications in Profile settings. There you will find a tab for Settings and a tab for Primary Notifications - you need to check through both.

Getting alerts, as recent as 6 minutes ago, just not getting those individuals who have liked my replies!
I just liked MDS, tonym, and Tabby Cat, it is very nice to realize those individuals, who share your views!
I'll keep plugging away!
Allante93!
PS. This thread could be posted on Hi Fi Corner, since it impacts all topics!
Allante, go back and double check through your settings and primary notifications. You can disable all alerts if you wish.
It's in the Padded Cell because it's not a topic about either music, hifi, streaming or home theatre.

I will go back and double check!
Of course, I wouldn't want to disable all alerts!
I just got your alert 3 minutes ago!
I'm just puzzled why I'm not getting my liked replies, like I was getting in the past!
Innocent, tonym, Tabby Cat etc...
That's what a Forum is all about, The Camaraderie!
If others are having problems with Disappearing Alerts I will direct them to the Padded Cell!

I'm probably doing something stupid, I'll keep plugging away!
Thanks Richard!
No, I didn't get your "like" and it's not showing on the thread. Strange because I'm getting them from others (honest . I can't get into your personal profile settings so it's hard for me to take a look and see whether there's a checked or unchecked box that's causing the problem.

I haven't seen your recent 'like' either, Allante93
Once you change the settings, only new ones from then on will be shown. It's not backdated from the last app update changes.
Thanks MDS & &Tonym!
