Naim NAP 110

Posted by: SensationFreak on 26 July 2017

Hello, I live far from any naim retailor so I would like first to check the capacitors on an old nap 110 which is working but capacitors may need to be changed.

Problem is, after removing the 4 feet screws , the inside cannot still be removed from the case.

There are 2 central hexagonal screws on the bottom of the case which I cannot unfasten with an allen key

Any help welcome to tell me how to open the amp please?

regards

Richard

Your best bet is to contact Naim service or someone like Darran at Class A.  The hex screws secure the inner sled to the case so it can be thermally bonded.  The screws are done up extremely tightly and you must be very careful not to round out the hex - very easily done!

Either Darran or Naim can give you an estimate to have the amp fully serviced and back to full health.

Lay the amp on its side. Position the allen key in the socket so that pushing down on it unscrew it. With nice straight arm and using your weight give the allen key a few sharp pushes.

If that fails, you need more leverage. A longer key, a piece of pipe or a long ring spanner will do the job.

Make sure the key is the correct size or you may round the socket.

and use a high quality allen key

You need a 4 mm allen key, better if T shaped.
