Trouble once again setting up the Mu-So app

Posted by: Staxxx on 28 July 2017

I have two internet connections. One has the Wifi disabled that I would like to use only for the Mu-So via a dedicated ethernet cable which I have plugged in. When I turn on the power the unit goes immediately into play mode on the last radio station that I have been listening to.

However, the app on my phone no more recognizes the unit. The phone uses the other internet connection which has wifi. Is there some conflict? Can my phone app connect to the unit via one internet connection on wifi....and play via another internet network ethernet connection?

I just want to change the radio stations, as it plays fine through the ethernet connection. I do not want to keep the wifi connection on this internet connection switched on for various reasons.

Thank you

Your phone needs to be on the same LAN as the Muso, otherwise it won't be able to see it. The phone connects to your network, not directly to the Muso's WiFi.

As mentioned, if your Muso is connected to one network and your phone running the app connected to another, you're using two networks.
Both the Muso and the app MUST be run on the same network, otherwise they won't "see" each other.

With wifi disabled on the network your Muso is connected to, there is no way the app on a phone connected to another wifi network will ever see the Muso.

Thank you. I understand.

If you don't want the wireless network to be visible to other devices, you can hide it by stopping it from broadcasting it's SSID (after your phone has found it) it it helps.

Or only allow certain devices access to the network. I cannot remember what that usually is called in the router language, but that and not broadcasting the SSID, should take care of most security issues.
