Recommend me cartridge...

I know...minefield right!

I'm shortly going to purchase a rb3 tt and have been advised that a mm cart would work best with my nait 3. My budget is £300. My speakers are ipl st3 kit made, which are really lovely transmission line floor standers (8 ohm)

Many thanks

Clive, have you considered putting the £300 budget towards an even better deck/arm and then going for a lower priced cartridge?

Or how about an RP6?  It will probably come with a reasonable cartridge already fitted and included within the price - Exact?

I have considered this, but have heard quite a few negative comments on the 2 rega carts.

Well, I really like the Rega Carbon at the entry level, and the Exact at the top end of the MM tree is also a good one. Of the Elys and Bias, I'm not such a fan.

Seems a shame to disregard any of the current Rega offerings to my mind, Clive.

That said, one of my brothers has a Goldring 1022 [?] on his mid nineties Rega Planar 3 into his Nait3. Always sounded good. He has Naca4 and Rega Elas too.

The AT95E is a cracking little cartridge for under £50 and will leave plenty for a beter turntable.

Yes indeed - available for around £25 if you look in the usual places.  And if that's too steep, the AT3600L is a great fun cartridge that can be bought for £15, which is a ridiculous bargain in my book.

I think an rp6 and any decent cart is circa £1100.....which I could stretch too I guess...

Goldring 1042 would be a great buy. I have used one for years in both SME and Rega arms and have always been very happy. Just upgraded to the Audio Note variant of it. Better - but at a price.
