ios app v 5.7.3

Posted by: jcgraas on 04 August 2017

Some front cover pictures do not display, even after clearing the cache and restarting the app (v5.7.3). I checked with foobar2000 that the front cover picture is well attached. Does not seem to be caused by the size of the picture. Try to "retagg" with foobar2000 : unsuccessfully.

(Sorry for the language errors - native french speaking).

The problem is not in the app;  the app will only display what is sent to it, no picture = no picture sent.   If it happens on my system its because my NAS has an indexing problem & I just run a NAS reindex.    Suggest you try that.

Is anyone else having the app (iOS 5.7.3) hanging on finding rooms. When it does get past that issue I then have to press a ndx symbol on the top of screen.Previously it just opened to my 3  options, music, radio and Spotify. In the last couple of days I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app to get past finding rooms.Any idea would be welcome.

Thanks.

I've had all the above Scooot,  but to be fair 5.7.3 has been pretty good.   Most times on opening it opens straight into into the Home Screen,  sometimes (maybe 1 in 10 or more) it opens to a blank screen with just the Naim logo at the bottom, a second or so later a flash of 'Finding Rooms', then a very short flash of the NDX picture/icon & into Home Screen.

I'm a beta tester & installed more apps than most.  I'm suspicious of reinstalling over an existing app might leave a 'problem' link in place & to prevent this I normally delete the app, then force a restart - press & hold both the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons until you see the Apple logo (about 10 secs)  -  then re-install & set-up your settings preferences.   The restart clears the RAM rubbish that might be causing the problem.  It might not,  but worth a try,  ya never know.

Hei Mike, thanks for your message. Reindexing the 35.000 tracks takes approximately 5 full days on my DS416Play; so, I am hesitating to start the process. I have tried the following on a set of tracks : erasing all pictures and reinstalling the cover picture with foobar2000; uninstalling and reinstalling the ios app; I now get the correct display of the cover picture. I will further investigate the subject. Regards.

Bonjour JCGrass,  how is Liege these days??   I spent a some time there back in 1976/7,  a lot of good times & good friends.   I was in Brussels & Ghent 2 weeks ago,  a weekend with old friends, good food & some beers that leave an impression.

I'm no expert on NAS indexing,  but 5 days seems a lot.  I don't have 35000 tracks but my reindex takes around 10 to 15 minutes. My NAS has an automatic indexing system that rarely needs attention, but once in a while, normally when a new album is loaded, a reindex is needed to get the art straight away (it does it without intervention if nothing is done for a few hours)  maybe its just an incremental reindex.

[@mention:71117301701440397] as MikeB says, I think you might be doing a full re-sync, rather than just a re-index.

Hello Mike, it's raining today. Should be better tomorrow. In the '70's, Liège was awful; since then the city has changed a lot (positively).

What I did previously was "unmarking" the index for the "/music" directory and "marking" it again > 5 days indexing; in fact, I missed the reindex button; I will give it a try.

Thanks for your support.

Ahh  !!!!   a Synology !!!!  same as me.    You don't need to re-sync.  its re-index you need.     Control Panel>Indexing Service>touch 'Reindex'  button    However you need to have already set up your 'Music' folder for indexing.  How to do that is here >>>  https://www.synology.com/en-uk...indexservice_general

Hi Antony,

You are correct the last Beta tested was 5.7.2, Naim released an updated vesion to App Store 5.7.3, (linked with to the Atom release) - this is an excellent app and works well.
