Keswick audio research Volante evolution speakers.

Posted by: mick5467 on 08 August 2017

Hello from a new to Naim user. It's a bit of a long story but I bought 2 pairs of K.A.R. Volante evolution speakers some time ago. The bass drivers were not in the best of condition so I sent them away for refurbishment and they are now en route back to myself. Does anyone have any experience of these speakers ? I'll be using them with my Nait 5i-2 and Nac A5 cable.

Thanks for any light anyone can shed as there's not much information out there in relation to these beautiful looking speakers.

All the best,

Mick.

Hi Mick,

as nobody has yet responded to your query, I thought I'd post a reply; I remember Keswick Audio appearing briefly - must have been around the '90s. A quick google for the Volantes shows quite a handsome (if somewhat conventional) looking small two-way reflex floor stander.

A quick look just now at Audiotools list of defunct audio manufacturers and there's this entry;

A mid/high end loudspeaker manufacturer based in Ferrybridge, Knottingley, Yorkshire in the UK and run by Dean S. Hartley, timeline is uncertain but Mr. Hartley joined Monitor Audio in 1998 after the takeover of that company by Dave Collins.

Thanks for your reply Richard. I was hoping to find someone who had perhaps owned a pair of Volantes but it doesn't matter now. I've got both of my pairs back now and with a bit of faffing around to get the position right for what is now a fantastic sound I'm over the moon with them. I only have one pair wired up, the other pair I've decided to keep because it seems to me they're a rare item to have.

Thanks again,

Mick.
