Uniti Atom as streamer?

I have a pre-amp already and wonder if it would be possible to run an Atom as a streamer only. (disable the amp inside??) Don't want a NDX; NDS etc...
LOVE the new design- great work Naim:-)
Thanks!
Ralf
The Unitiqute has the facility to set the speakers to "none" though I doubt it cuts the power to the output circuitry. I assume the Atom is the same functionality and both have line level outputs. I suppose it depends ultimately on how good your pre-amp is.
Thanks!!
At 1750 quid, using an Atom as a streamer only seems a folly. If you'll never use its amplification you're better off spending a bit more on a dedicated Naim streamer. Or is my logic wrong?

I'd hazard a guess the OP is thinking that the Atom is the first incarnation of the new Naim Streaming Platform. It may not be such a stupid idea in the medium term until the tech finds its way into the Classic line
Come om guys, you don't buy a Uniti all in one just to use the streamer?! It doesn't make sense and is a waste of money ...
My desktop UnitiQute 2 doubles as the streamer to my main system via it's SPDIF output.
In other words, sometimes I use it as an all-in-one to with desktop speakers. And at other times, I use it as the streamer to my main system's nDAC/282/250.2 (with the UQ2's volume adjusted down to 0). This works superbly and avoids duplication of the streamer, and of some of my digital sources & connections to the streamer.
So I'm disappointed that the Atom, and in fact none of the new Uniti line, appear to have SPDIF outputs. Hence, it doesn't look like an upgrade of my desktop UQ2 to an Atom is in the cards.

That's exactly the point Penarth. The streamer has all functions i would need... ok, maybe Naim will adapt the design in future streamer...than without an amp section.
Maybe the OP just likes the design and UI of the atom, but needs a bigger amp? If you've got the money the burn, there's worse things to spend it on IMO.
In the US the ND5xs is 50% more expensive than the Atom. That may be a reason to use the Atom as a streamer... Unless Naim gives us a ND5si or equivalent at 50% less than an Atom....
Still ... using the Atom purely as a steamer doesn't make sense to me. You leave about half the device (pre- and power amplifiers) unused ...
Klout I totally get what you are saying. I have a Qute that I use just as a streamer and struggle with the same.
The choice for some of us is to do this or get someone else's product. So is it better to use a Qute or Atom as just a streamer? Or leave the Naim Brand for another product, like Lumin or the other L from Scotland?
I personally feel like Naim has abandoned those of us who struggle to put together the funds for the i range of products. I wish that I had the resources than many seem to on the forum, but do not.

Not as a streamer mine is setup with Focals, question was purely the best source of music.
