Question to the Administrator on Topic Removal
Posted by: Adam Zielinski on 11 August 2017
Dear Administrator
Can you please explain why my topic 'Frustrating Day in the studio...' is nowhere to be found?
I posted it yesterday evening in the Padded Cell?
If it's about copyright / ownership: I'm one of the album composers and its producer, so I own the rights to the recorded material.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Adam

perhaps the administrator is thinking that you are advertising yourself....
Perhaps
That would be a very unusual form of advertising though...

Isn't the majority of advertising done by 'self' for self ? One doesn't often see one advertiser promoting another's wares (not even amongst such a gentlemanly and polite group as we have here) .
...just saying.
I saw the original thread and it was hardly what I would call in advert.
Adam never mentioned the band or album name in the thread in question. It was completely innocuous. Even if someone tried to follow-up there is really no information to google or pursue. I can see no way in which it was intended as an ad.
Hopefully we'll see what the moderator has to say on the issue. Maybe someone flagged it.
Fred Simon has on occasion directly mentioned his albums on this forum. He has released several albums on the Naim label.
Maybe a word or 2 tripped the automatic naughty word review trigger?
A very interesting thread IMHO, my lens being on the extent to which all music is processed before it's released and how things can go wrong in that lineage. As a kid I was given a tour of Abbey Rd studios and later in life a much smaller venue where the studio had been hired out to a heavy metal band - and I didn't have a clue what that lot were up to musically!
Adam,
it was reported by a member as possibly breaching forum AUP, so, as per forum policy it was moved over to an admin area for review. I was out at a concert last night with my daughter so couldn't get on and review but will do so today and will let you know by e-mail.
Adam, I for one, thought this was one of the most interesting (original) posts in a long while.
If this was indeed and Advert, it was one of the worst I have ever seen.
A very interesting view on a part of music we don't normally get to read about. We moan about the finished product, good to hear a discussion about the "bad" process as part of that product.
Can we get it back please?

The post was about me sharing my frustration after a tough day in a studio. It was meant as a safety valve for me.
When started to type it, I also thought I would share some of the insights on the side of the music business that is not normally seen by the majority of the forum members.
Not many people reliase how long it takes to record, mix and produce a 5 minute song.
The one we are mixing now - it will take around 2 days just to mix it to a state where I'm happy with it. Recording of 6 tracks during the June sessions took around 12 working days (8 hours) for 2 guitars, drums, bass and vocals.
Mixing of the remainig 9 tracks should now be faster. Mastering will take several days - up to a week.
We all love to listen to quality music, well recorded and played back on our fantastic NAIMs.
I'm priviledged to have a system at home that enables me to listen to the music in a way that is unncunningly close to being sat behind a recording / mixing desk. So it also helps me with my passion which is composing, playing and recording music.
Adam

In my opinion: NO.
I think Richard does a great job. The forum AUP exists and I think he applies the policies very fairly.
(But I would like to see Adam's topic back, even if it has to be moderated somewhat, as it was a fascinating (if frustrated!) insight into production side of things; and that's such an important step in the reproduction of music as Adam illustrated so well.)
The missing thread has returned
Thank you Richard.

I agree,
I think Richard does a very good job & its not an easy one either.
It can be easy to post without considering the rules but I'm pleased to see the interesting thread is now restored.
