Hello All

Anyone having issues with artwork? Hardly any of my albums stored on Synology NAS drive show up.

Thanks as always for your opinions.

Are you seeing the album artwork on your Naim app?

Are you using Synology's own uPnP server?

I switched from Synology's music server to minimserver because minimserver was very much more efficient at displaying album artwork.

How have you ripped your CDs? Do you have jpeg files (with a name of 'folder') containing the appropriate album artwork in the root directory of each album on your NAS?

If your answer is that you have used dbPoweramp to rip your CDs, and that you have the appropriate jpeg in each album folder, then that will eliminate some of the possible causes.

In addition to the above Hmack post re metadata embedded art which you need to confirm first  .........

Can you see the art on the iPad/Android when the album is opened but are having trouble seeing it one or some of the various browsing paths.  What specific browsing path (names) are having these problems.    I have to say that Synology's native UPnP 'Media Server' is not the best at art shows when browsing & if that is your problem then Minimserver is the UPnP to go for.

If the art is not displaying when the album is open & all you see is a 'folder' icon,  then I would suspect you might have not set up the automatic indexing program correctly.    DSM has all the how to do it instructions https://www.synology.com/en-uk...indexservice_general         Also when loading a new album & it does not show the art straight away, & you can't wait for the auto-index,  run a re-index (Control Panel>Indexing Service>Reindex)

Switch it off .......walk away ........... stroll down to the pub for a couple of relaxing beers ................ it'll be fine when you return home.

HMACK, Mike - thank you for you responses.

I'll answer some of the Q's.

I am using Synology's own uPnP server, I have a mixture of ripped CD's using dBpa, some Flac files from HD Tracks, MelodiShop etc. What's weird is there is no consistency in the failure of the displayed art.

I have manually added .jpeg files to the directory's some work, some do not. Neither do some display on the iPad or iPhone either. I agree that Syn's Media Server ain't great, however when using VOX it works perfectly.

I'm wondering if as a Mac user the .DS_Store hidden files are causing an issue which are not there for Windows users. if not, I was wondering (and this is naive) if the art is pulled from the meta tag data over the internet.

I will also try what you have suggest Gents and thanks again.

Best

LH
