Do Naim engineers use their best cables when designing?

I guess this is only speculation, but surely any item designed and manufactured by Naim uses full super lumina and Powerlines?

(My logic is if they design what they regard as ultimate cabling, they should base all equipment on this.  Then the 'line to achieve' is drawn for the consumer...)

Doesn't make sense to speculate on this one ... ask Naim ...

I agree we can only guess at the answer to this one. We should however remember that those using a SuperLumina full loom are a very small minority of all Naim users. I suspect that the majority use stock cables, particularly if not at the upper Classic end of the spectrum. The most recent designs are of course the new Uniti range which would certainly be designed to work primarily with stock cables IMO.

Anyway, many wouldn't pay for, or even want SuperLumina cables or Powerlines, so I would imagine that Naim kit (excluding Statement of course) would be designed to work primarily with stock cables with the capability to be enhanced with the use of SuperLumina.

Statement would be the only Naim equipment that would be designed with SL cables would be my guess. SL wasn't around when the previous electronics were introduced. Save the new Streaming products.

Not many Naim owners of their lesser equipment could, or would want to spend eight thousand dollars for a pair of speaker cables and four thousand dollars on a meter and a half of interconnects. So why design the equipment with cables that would never, or in very rare circumstances, be used with it?

New uniti range recommends naca5

And was demonstrated with such at the factory.

Nothing wrong with NACA 5. It's a very good cable.

Hi Badlands, after hearing quite a few hi-end cables including Superlumina there is no need for anyone to think that NACA5 is lacking in any way - it is the cable that was used to develop the mighty NAP 500.

However SL is better than NACA5....

My hope is standard wires are used when designing.

I like to assume they use the cables they intend to supply with the items concerned
