Naim iOS v.5.7.5 app

Posted by: L_H on 25 August 2017

Dear Naim, the aforementioned version has not ported, has the final candidate upload taken place as the App Store still issuing 5.7.4. Do I assume that the post was a little premature and it's still in App Review Status?

Please advise.

The last one seemed to take until the end of the day to surface on the App Store, try later this afternoon.

Yes not denied,  but this whole new product launch & its associated software management has not been something that inspires confidence,  I'm an old hand & been around the block,  but I fear new customers were expecting a lot better.

It on AppStore now .......

So it is. I downloaded it over the top of the beta and it all seems fine at first glance.

New app version worked good for one whole day, Today found no rooms or could not get further then the new line pop up.

After fresh install worked again. Getting so tired of this nuisance. Is this only with Naim like this or have other brands this also??

You really shouldn't need to do a fresh install. Stopping the app by double-clicking home button and swiping upwards followed by a restart of the app should work, it always does for me. Having said that, I haven't seen a no rooms message on 5.7.5 yet.

I keep getting network fault 1004 on mine and have had install my 272 manually, but then the app shows 2 of them ( same name )  click on one and it connects.   Come out of the app though and have to go through the same process again.

Steven, i can see my streamer logo but when i press it does not work.

i will mail Naim in the morning again for the third time but this is getting very annoying. Again only can use the remote. Do you use a Netgear router??

I've had to do a total reset on mine today. Hanging like Ron Jeremy. iRadio is so poor, iPhone via Bluetooth and using VOX is rock solid and actually sounds better and the iPhone is not AptX. It's very, very poor it really is. On a positive note I've completely resolved the album artwork issue thanks to Mike for the pointers. Anyone OS X platform based ping me and I'll show you exactly how to do it.

Hi CP62.  No. My 272 is wired direct to my BT6 hub ( brand new yesterday ) as I thought my problem may have been with my original BT6 hub, but my 272 is behaving exactly the same, I agree with your frustration and if it wasn't for the sound quality from my system I'd have given up, I wonder if the new units are suffering the same problems as I see on a well known auction site that there are more then the normal amount of 272s for sale!!

My NS01 is also wired to the same hub and I can connect to that all the time ( different app though )..

I'm using the latest app with my 272 and it's perfectly fine, with no issues at all. There may some tecky thing you need to do such as turning off IGMP snooping in the router. It's best to ask Naim technical support. But it's not the case that the new app is faulty, otherwise nobody's setup would work.

Hallo Steven,

I thinking about upgrading first thought was Naim Nova. But i you read about my problems with the app you can understand that i am hesitant to go with Naim again. I like the Naim sound but the problems with the software for me give the feeling Naim has no control on this moment because every update they give us does not work for all of us. And the sad news it worked before. As i told before a friend went to Audio shop and wanted to lisen to the new Naim product and the could not getting working. I will visit my audio dealer in a few weeks and will look at the new Nova but he is also Linn dealer. In the coming weeks i will look on this forum and see if my mails to Naim will be answered and see if there is any progress if not i will go the other way.

CP62, as HH, I'm also using the latest app with a 272, and with four other streamers and a UnitiCore. It seems to work ok and even with the very flaky earliest 5.7.x releases, if you killed the app and restarted it, it would work properly.

If 272s routinely had this problem with BT Homehub 6s then Naim would know about it and probably all of us on the forum would too. So I'm wondering whether this is a faulty 272. Have you tried resetting it to factory settings?

Anyway definitely well worth a phone call to Naim on Tuesday. I wouldn't recommend waiting for a reply to an email as no doubt there will be lots from new Uniti owners with issues.

On the Apple App Store when you submit it may take a bit to show up and show up in all regions... I think that this is probably the most sophisticated and difficult project that NAIM has undertaken.  From all I have heard the units are spectacular.  While it is certainly disappointing that everything was delayed so long, it seems they are really trying to make everything right and the wait is worth it (I hope). I’m looking forward to when this tech and architecture makes its way up to the separates.

David, indeed, there are millions of BT Homehubs out there and a good proportion of them will be HH6 devices... I really suspect this is nothing to do with the router .. after all, other than DHCP, the router itself is rather transparent to the devices on the home network.

HH mentioned IGMP snooping which is something used on switchports and wifi access points for efficient operation... often quite important for wifi... but in the world of UPnP streaming this is simply about how UPnP discovery invite beacons are propagated on your home network... a fault here simply means a discovery beacon won't reach another device from a specific device and so the devices will remain hidden from each other... often with wifi it may mean the Naim amp can't find or see the streamer and has to be restarted for it to appear again... but that appears different to what is happening here... and there is no actual network error when this happens, more a software/protocol interoperability issue.

Error 1004 would appear to be a specific captured event in the Naim streamer that only Naim will know about, I suspect a specific time out event with the Naim software between Naim app and streamer... I very much doubt it's directly related to any tinkering on the home network, unless the home network is very unreliable (there are no power line adapter devices are there?), and one certainly should contact Naim support... it might indeed point to an issue with the 272 itself and the streaming hardware like a loose connection etc.

Right, I've had a day of it! App crashing again, iRadio still dropping out 5-6 times per hour. So, turn off Bluetooth and.... it WORKS!

Posted on: 28 August 2017 by Mike-B

Congratulations, but can you elaborate,  turned bluetooth off?  on what ???
