Security and lockdown

Just a thought given most streamers now talk to some type of server to update to the latest firmware and setup, could we see something built into the app and hardware to enable mobile phone type blacklisting if stolen.

I remember days of old insuring a prior systems due to the worry, but always thought if some bast##d did steal it, yes I could claim off my insurance but they would still have won !!!!!!!!
