Indeed - though some members of this parish might need warning that he has written appreciatively about some of Russ Andrews' kit, so may be considered (by them) to be dwelling in outer darkness and therefore worthy only pity and prayers for him to turn back to the path of righteousness.

On a more positive note, I was interested to follow a link from LJC to this article from (of all publications) The Economist. The first half of the article is fairly ho-hum, but the second half delves into some interesting theories that it's actually harmonic distortions from transformers that are responsible for the perception of analogue sound being 'warm'. Not sure how much of it I believe, but it's interesting to read an article which goes beyond the usual valve/vinyl/nostalgia/good-old-days/when-I-were-a-lad/the-rot-set-in-with-digital/The-Man-conspired-to-sell-us-CDs/the-general-population-swallowed-it-whole/the-revolution-starts-here-with-my-record-deck/onwards-comrades stuff that we've all read many times before.
