Sadly yes, and they have joined forces with Focal, a French 'speaker company.

Plenty of great Naim 'speakers second hand though.

Oh well. I need to downsize my ProAc D15's as I now have a very small listening room of  just 2.80m  x 3.40m.

Whatever the replacements,  they need to be happy near the corners.

I was thinking of ProAc Tablettes,  simply because Iiked the D15's in a bigger room...

What thinks the team?

If you like what the D15s did then it's probably a safe bet to go for Tablettes - always one of ProAcs best designs.  Only issue might be the need to place near corners.  In which case you may be better off looking at a boundary design.  Either way, best try before you commit.

Yes, I loved the D15's in my previous environment. Fantastic all-rounders, musical AND "hifi"...

Thanks Richard. Very encouraging although I  may have to make a leap of faith via ebay instead of spending time in Madrid... I'm a bit remote here.

The new Tablette 10 has a few happy owners and coveted by many others. They are based on the LS3/5A design, don't have any port and best up tight against a rear wall.  Not sure about corners.  You might just squeeze them in along the longest wall with enough room from each other and the corners.

A pity they're not singlewire 

I have long enjoyed ATC speakers.  They seem to be pretty good across the range.  I have a pair of SCM10 speakers for my computer system, one of them in a corner, the other not - hugely poor positioning but sound very good.  Driven by Naim kit, of course.

Chris - what are you using with the Tab 10s? Just picked up an Atom and will try to audition with the Tabs - this said, the neat iotas proved very very good with the Atom when I gave them a whirl last week

The important thing is not to overload the room with bass. The only thing worse than too little bass is too much.  From a speaker positioning, whatever you do I'd consider using the speakers across the width of the room with the listening position hard against the back wall. This will allow you to get the speakers well away from the front wall in order to get a balanced bass, especially if your speaker is rear ported and will allow you to get your speakers far apart with toe-in to balance treble energy and create a perceived image that is far larger than the room (assuming your equipment preserves sufficient level and phase detail to be able to do that). Remember that imaging is a function of your ears and brain, so all the speakers and room need to do is preserve all the information your brain needs to create that space and depth perception from the stereo signal.  

Positioning your speakers in corners will severely limit your opportunities to get a well balanced, airy, musical sound without overexcited bass nodes and numerous nulls.  You need to use a systematic approach to find the exact optimum position for your speakers.  When you do, you'll be amazed at the results you can obtain from such a relatively small space. 

Either the Tablet 10 or ATC SMC11 v2 would be my recommendation. Both great speakers for tight spaces. I went for the ATC as it had a little more. (controlled) bass

Suggest to try the Responce 1sc or Response 2 StandMouth from ProAc. Response series are better than Tablette Series, but if you like the 3/5a kind of sound and slight more weight on low frequency then new Tablette 10 shall be your new baby.

Shahinian Larcs - work well in a wide variety of positions.

You haven't mentioned what source and amplifier you are using.

in small rooms (any horizontal dimension less 3m), on wall placement is always going to be a problem, it's just a question of degree (and corners are definitely best avoided for a variety of reasons).

LS3/5a style designs do very well in small rooms, as so a number of other small speakers with sealed enclosures, but the on wall placement introduces extra lower mid colouration.

On the other hand larger speakers designed for boundary placement (such as SBLs and SLs) are usually designed for medium sized rooms and can sometimes excite the bass modes of a small room a little more than is desirable.

I'm also surprised no one has yet mentioned Harbeth P3ESRs.

IBLs are like hens teeth - was looking for a pair for a backup for Quads and also to use with an NAIT 1.

There's a pair of NSats on one of the canadian auto classifieds...

I bought them about an hour ago, and I was pretty excited. Then I saw this thread, and now I'm kinda freaked out over the whole thing.

Don't worry. They are fantastic. Especially  in smaller rooms. What will you be using them with? 

They will be used with a Rel S3 on the end of an LP12/52/250/Fraim. I will be comparing them with a pair of es-14's. Should be interesting...
