Uniti Atom Front Display - Is this normal?

Posted by: Alley Cat on 30 August 2017

I've had it just under 2 weeks.

Several times when I wake it via the Naim App and use Chromecast built-in to ply Qobuz, the front display seems to have a corrupted display - I can only describe it as blurred grey bands that sometime fade in and out.

I cannot get the home menu or other information to display without turning it off via the remote then on again.

So is this a hardware issue with display or a firmware bug - I can't see it's a feature.

Now perhaps I'll be told to always turn it on via the remote, but I may not have that to hand but do have the iPhone running Naim app.

I can't see a proper manual for this device on the Naim support pages either, only the Quick Start Guide.

Oddly when I initially turned it on and paired the remote it never went through a setup routine, should it have?

My screen does nothing by waving in front of the display. I have asked a couple of questions to Naim directly regarding the unit. A couple of issues I have currently:

"I have recently installed a Uniti Nova into my multiroom setup to replace a UQ2. I therefore now have a Uniti Nova / Mu-so / QB in different rooms. A couple of queries have popped up since spending a couple of days with it if you would so kind to answer:

1) When selecting Multiroom via the remote a message pops up onto the nova screen informing me to use the app. When I select multiroom on the app whilst on the Nova screen there are no other rooms showing (ever) whereas if mu-so or QB is selected and I press multi room the others (including the nova are available and stream no issues. In a nutshell I cant use multi room and stream from the nova if you could advise?

2) Is there a way to put Tidal on the home screen? It currently does not show.

3) Linked with (2) above; When I disable various inputs (bluetooth, hdmi ect), they still show up on the home screen, shouldn't they disappear?

4) Is there a way to change the screen to display stay fixed on album/track info? When I scroll to the screen showing this info, it keeps defaulting back to album art. It would be could to have the option to fix it on the selected screen (and stay that way after powering down)."

These were some of my niggles with the Atom I ordered... To me the screen design seems odd and un-intuitive. I also had these questions to Naim. Long story short, I returned the Atom.
