Maybe I'm old fashioned too, and don't really grasp the "like" concept, as applied to social media, (which I don't really "get" either), but when I "like" a post on here, it's simply a way of agreeing with the views expressed, without having to reply using a quote.

Simples.

See ... I just did both!

Where it can come in handy is when people like your musical selection - nice to see who has similar musical tastes and over time adds to getting a feel for what different regular forum members like musically.

Music is nice and safe but don't mention religion or politics, then the likes and dislikes take on a whole host of attitudes..!

I think I get what you say

Sort of allready got that feeling with some members around, both hifi and music taste, but tbh I doubt I gain much looking into the likes"

I have sort of disabled and do not view them

I still don't really "get" the method but my respect if people communicate that way too, this is a modern world for youngsters and admittedly I never got into FB and streaming plus I just learnt what "likes" are, maybe it says it all

I somehow find the knowledge that I'd contribute to someone's insecurity by 'liking' a post deeply disturbing.

This all similar to the dreaded Facebook...?

There is a setting that enables you not to get emails when someone likes one of your posts. It's most useful.

In which case I dislike your posts

Now I do like that, but I'm frightened to hit the 'like' icon.
