BBC radio restriction.

Listening to "Today", er, today, I suddenly got the repeated message "Due to Rights Restrictions, This Part of the Program is Unavailable".

A quick Google shows Sonos owners getting the same problem and a suggestion that it's something to do with "a new streaming format called HLS" (whatever that is...).

Anybody?

Normal service has resumed since I started typing this...

Are you outside the UK? The Beeb do seek to prevent overseas listeners to material which is rights protected, although I wouldn't have thought much of the Today programme fell into that category.

The HLS thing is something else. The Beeb changed their internet radio feeds a couple of years ago and now they are HLS (http live streaming - you can google it) except that I think they have retained lower bit rate non-HLS feeds too. Naim brought out a firmware update for their streamers to accommodate this (it was 4.3 for the ND* streamers and old unitis) but the HD streams are not available outside the UK without bypassing the restriction (there was a recent discussion of that in the forum in the context of the flac trial).

But I suspect that what you heard this morning was a glitch...

The Beeb's internet radio streams are delayed relative to the live broadcast and are 'doctored' for both local and international consumption and are best avoided.

I have been using Asset on a W7 PC to stream DAB receiver audio captured by a ClimaxDigital ACAP100 to an ND5SX with great success. Multiroom TMS - Perfection !

However .......

I have recently upgraded to W10 and Asset R6 with the result that the audio stream is played as a series of high speed audio bursts punctuated with periods of silence. Sound:Silence ration is approx. 1:4.

Illustrate don't seem to know what to do and without an index on this forum I don't know where to go for help.

Anyone got any ideas ?
