Great Movie Soundtracks
Posted by: Bert Schurink on 08 September 2017
I just realized that I don't have an extensive collection of movie soundtracks. While I like the music of movies in quite a number of cases. Examples like the last emperor, gladiator, etc....
What is you favorite list of Soundtracks. And do you have also a recommendation for something which wouldn't be on every-bodies list.
Bert. I don't what to start with!
As Bert said, I don't have an extensive collection of movie soundtracks either, but I also like the music of many movies.
I also like many of the above
The music might not be great but it brings back memories of a time.
And she had a beautiful voice
Hans Zimmer must be more greater than the late great Irving Berlin.
John Barry - The Lion in Winter
17 years in the charts, 22million sales and still going strong!
Most Woody Allen movies do well in the music department for me. The opening to Midnight in Paris is one of my favourites.
Of the soundtracks that are original scores, I guess I'd have to say that Philip Glass' haunting Koyaanisqatsi has long been a favourite. I've also more recently really enjoyed Hans Zimmer's music to Interstellar. Giorgio Moroder's music for Midnight Express is another excellent soundtrack. And how can I forget Ennio Morricone, John Barry, oh dear there are too many...
Otherwise, for soundtrack compilations, I can highly recommend the soundtracks to 1969, and also to Withnail & I. Oh, and how could I not mention Neville Marriner and the ASMF's performances of the works of Mozart for the soundtrack to Amadeus.
Oklahoma
South Pacific
Oh Brother Where art Thou
Pulp Fiction
Just played the bluray last night. Soundtrack to North by North West by Bernard Herrmann. Great film made even greater by the music. And it dates from 1959!
