Internet tuner
Posted by: Perol on 10 September 2017
I have been using my Unitiqute as preamp in a TV setup
Wireless Internet radio from UQ has been a positive experience with lots of use
Now, I'm replacing this TV setup with other kit and the UQ is sold on
The other kit does not provide radio
I wonder if its possible to buy separate internet radio tuners in similar quality ?
And without the wasted electronics in UQ that I didn't use
I'd avoid using a pc and I don' t need other streaming facilities apart from internet radio
Are there such wireless tuners, in good quality, available on the market ?

CCA does internet radio, and can be used from Apple.
Amazing value for money. I have one feeding my SN1's optical input.
Some report lower sound quality, but on my SN1 it is fine.

I had to google CCA and it looks decent and simple
Amazing if it works
Hopefully I will not need to use a pc to get it working ?
In fact then its a no go for me
Many options to think closer about
Many thanks

Yes, go to HiFiShark and look for a Squeezebox, either Classic or Touch. better a Touch. There's another forum with a certain movement of such devices.

Can SB run radio without the server software?
Claus
Hi Claus
No I do not think so - the Logitech Server is required to be installed and running - though oddly radio will often continue playing (as long as I remain on the same channel) if my wife switches the computer off.

Hmmm. Not sure I understand the last comment. I never have a pc running LMS and have no problems listening to the radio and switching channels. My touch runs perfectly as a stand alone unit (tho I have it access my music collection from an atached usb drive and spotify through my raspberry pi). Am I missing something here?

Interesting Robert
As pointed out earlier, I intend to run internet radio as stand alone unit with no computer/pc involved.

I do control them entirely using my cheap motorola android phone. No need for a PC. I'm streaming currently 24/96 Flacs via the ChromeCast Audio into a Naim AV2 as stereo Dac.

I do not have the Touch - perhaps that is the difference
Hmmm... maybe overdue a room move on this one.

The Raspberry is a computer so that gives you the answer. Long ago you could connect your SQ device to a webservice where you could define radio presets and then you did not need a running computer to get internet radio. It is my understanding that this service has long gone, and that you now need squeezebox server runnning to get internet radio or other online services. It is years since I gave up on my squeezebox receiver so I may be wrong, but I do not think so.
