anybody heard the twenty5 26  vs the Fact 8 which is best.

I found the Fact8 to have a very "fast" and lean bass, which many will like.  This on the end of a CD555 282/SC and NAP300.  I found the tonal balance of the Fact8 to be un-natural and didn't get on with it.

The twenty5.26 sounds more natural and balanced to these ears.  Both need very good amplification to drive them properly, or they can sound a bit fat, slow & soggy (which is the amplifier's fault, not the speaker!).

Both speakers sit in that funny £5-10k price range, where there appears to be loads of choice, with many "breakthrough, game changing, 5 star award winning" speakers.  However, when you actually audition them, you may well find (as I did) that none of them are quite right.

So, be prepared to audition many more than just PMC if you want to be truly happy with your choice of new speaker.  Depending on your electronics and intended speaker position, I would have Kudos (606, S10, S20) and Proac (D30r and D48R) on your audition list, as well as the many, many viable alternatives from B&W, Spendor, Harbeth, Neat, KEF, Sonus Faber (I love the appearance of the Olympica II), ATC (SCM40) etc.

Hope this helps, FT
