Bluetooth range ???

Posted by: Orhan Arsel on 20 September 2017

My cheap Logitech bluetooth adapter has a longer range than my Uniti 2's internal bluetooth receiver. When I move my phone around the house, or go to another room, Uniti 2 music is cut off. How is this possible ?

That's the nature of wireless devices. The range is not deterministic. Bluetooth is a short range system, so isn't designed to allow you to wonder around the house in the sameway as, say, wifi is.

Yes, I get that. But I don't understand why my cheap $40,- Logitech bluetooth adapter has better reception than the Uniti 2's internal bluetooth adapter ?

The thing is, it does, and that’s that really.

Probably means the Logitech device has a better antenna or a more sensitive receiver, but as HH says it is what it is. I doubt that the Naim unit is actually faulty although you could see what your dealer thinks.

Naim players use the minimal transmit power in their transceivers to reduce the detrimental effect on sound quality.  So reduced range but better SQ.

Ok, this makes sense. Thank you.

I have 2 lenovo machines. One cannot relyably connect  2 my braille display little more than 3 meters away and with no opsticles in the way. It works fine on the other machine. The irony is that the machine with the best connection is the cheapest of the 2 machines. >
