IStumbler and Apple Airport Express

Posted by: Blackmorec on 21 September 2017

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone is using iStumbler to analyse their wi-fi network quality? Did you find it helpful in identifying glitches and improving signal quality?

Then onto the Apple...anyone using Apple's Airport Express?  How's the SQ vs an Ethernet cable? Do you find cable noticeably better of does the AE do the trick in providing a strong and robust wi-if signal? How far is the AE away from your streaming device? Have you compared the AE wireless and wired? Any difference in SQ?

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my query.

Cheers!

The best use I've found for an AE is to connect it to a Naim streamer's Ethernet port instead of using the built in WiFi, which I could never persuade to work reliably. Give it an optical connection too, and you have an Airplay connection, which is an added convenience feature.

Never heard of iStumbler, but I do find Net Analyzer handy for seeing what's happening on the LAN.
