Tidal dropouts on Virgin Broadband

Posted by: Bigfoot on 21 September 2017

Hi, I posted a query on Virgin's website regarding an ongoing issue I have had since taking their service.

http://community.virginmedia.c...-issues/td-p/3532592

During the early evening I experience buffering issues and playback stops on my ND5 SX. Occasionally they also stop playing in the afternoon. If I leave a playlist on repeat, I can guarantee it will stop playing.

I have had techs confirm the connection is good (up to 108mbps), had the devices wired to the modem by Ethernet, and have had a SuperHub 3 replaced with another SuperHub 3. I have also tried assigning google public DNS as suggested by Tidal.

My Hi-Fi dealer , Auto-T in Manchester experiences exactly the same issues and believes it has something to do with Virgin's service seeing the FLAC streaming as a torrent and choking the connection.

I had no issued on Sky broadband (17mbs) over wi-fi or wired.

If anyone else has similar issues on Virgin, perhaps you might care to post on the thread I have created on their support site. http://community.virginmedia.c...-issues/td-p/3532592

Best wishes,

Andrew.

Look at the thread by Johnell, ‘Tidal dropouts - probable cause’.
