Party mode?
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 September 2017
Since getting a second Qb, when I use multi-room between the main system and the Qb in the kitchen, I now see the option of 'Party Mode'. It sounds very exciting and I wonder if activating it will make me feel like I'm 20 again. What is it?
Try a BBQ with a QB, and some nice company and friends this weekend.....
chill out and reconvene next week?

I mainly use it with 5 Live Sports Extra, so that I can leave the room and be sure I can hear Test Match Special whichever part of the house I go to. (The upstairs Qbs need to be pretty loud for the bathroom.)

We were listening to The Archers. How can life be more of a party than that?
Hi,
"Party Mode" and "Multiroom" refer to the same thing however "Party Mode" gives you a quick way of grabbing the first four streamers in the list rather than having to select each individually.

Am amused at the concept of in perfect sync when dealing with devices in different rooms. Surely the delay required between devices changes depending on which device you are closest to?
Thanks Phil, I suspected that to be the case. As to Jon being amused by the perfect sync, all I know is that it works. We can have something on in the kitchen, walk through the dining room to the sitting room, where the 272 lives, and then go upstairs to the study where the other Qb resides and the music is perfectly coordinated. Maybe it’s simply the fact that signals travel really fast in the cables so that no actual synchronisation is required. Or maybe not.

The syncing Jon is talking about is sound sync not electrical sync. If you stand by your 272 and turn it down so you can hear your QB equally loud, you may notice a short delay between them, assuming you don't live in a vast house, in which case the delay may be longer. But if the streamers are all at about the same loudness, then you will only notice the other as you walk closer towards it. And half way between the two, the sound delay will be the same.

I had 2 Qbs going at a function each sited in a different part of my pub. As it was Spanish guitar/flamenco music I was playing (the same tracks to each Qb at the same time), timing was important. Standing between the Qbs so I could hear each of them at the same time, it was apparent that the timing was perfect, both playing in exact time to each other and that was running them in wifi mode. I couldn't hear what the master NDS was doing as it was on another floor. I assume if there is any timing differences it would be between the master and the satellite MuSos/Qbs.
I have to say the Multiroom/Party Mode function is very impressive as is the SQ from the diminutive Qb.
I've finally used party mode. I was flitting between the sitting room and kitchen, Hilary was in the study upstairs and it was 7.02pm. Press party mode and we have The Archers throughout the house. Marvellous.
