As part of my upgrade path I used my SN 1 as pre into a 250DR sounded fantastic. Couldn’t fault it.

If you follow the hierarchy as suggested by many you might add a dedicated pre first using the SN just as a power amp.  Not sure that's possible though?

Hi I want to get pmc fact 8 ,the sn with hicap dr will drive them but I think the nap 250 dr will be better with the sn plus hicap as preamp.

Johnny - I'm not very knowledgable on PMCs although I know they sound great.   Are they a difficult drive? If not they might benefit from the increased soundstage and resolution a 282/HC would provide.

I do.

SN2 > HiCapDr > NAP 250 DR.

It's actually quite good.
Started with SN2, added HiCapDR - this was the biggest gain.
Adding NAP 250 DR is OK, but it doesn't lift the performance as with a dedicated pre-amp.
It's the pre-amp section of the SN2 that is now starting to show its limitations.

But that's OK - if I ever find a decent 552... it will go into my music room in place of 252. And 252 will replace my trusted SN2.
Possibly.... But I'm not in a hurry as both systems sound fantastic.

Hi Johnny , I've been using a Supernait2 with a 250DR for about 18 months and its very good . The benefits of the 250DR were immediately apparent with the PMC twenty-23s I had at the time , your lovely Fact 8s would benefit greatly IMO . I must add that I have always intended to replace the Supernait at some point with a dedicated Pre but I can patiently wait to see what the future may bring .

There have been a few threads about this if you search and an interesting review of the combo by Andrew Everard on the web .
