Hey everybody,
After a very long wait, my Atom finally hit its shelves yesterday evening, and I'm really glad to find out it absolutely desserved waiting that long.
'Sounds dope through my B&W PM1
I'd like some advices though, even if this ain't my first Naim kit (the Atom replaces a full system comprised of a DAC V1, NAP 100 and a Qute2) as regarding one:
1. Installation : My hi-fi racks have 3 shelves, it's actually like a kind of longer than higher cupboard to accomodate for the various Equipments with a little space to allow air flowing around; all built-in in massive oaks, and a large top plate thick by 5 centimeters and able to support even the heaviest amps
I was wondering though, whether it'd be better to place the Atom on the top shelf, or rather within/onto one of the shelves beneath, because I find the unit so beautiful that I thought to myself "it'd be a pity to "hide" it to some extent, by putting it on one those shelves located under the top platter; which leads to my 2nd questions;
2. Does the unit heat as much as the UQ2 or will it run much cooler ?
And one last thing : I'm a cleanness maniac, and hate dust; the unit being all black, and i'm especially worring about that front LCD bright display, will it attrackt finger prints, dusts and smudges like a magnet if I install it center-stage on the top platter of my Hi-Fi rack ?
Your advices will be very much appreciated.
In the meantime, I just enjoy every notes of music being played at home since yesterday evening: Raphael Saadicq did never sound so good to my ears: thrilling musical experience !!!
P.S: please forgive me if I misspelled some words, English is not my mother's tongue.
Many thanks in advance for your feedback.

To Richard or anyone else,
Do you know whether Naim plan to bring back the actual random play of the music library in a near future (through an update of the app) ?
This is a feature request as I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one interested in seeing it back on the Uniti range.

That'd be really great Richard.
That feature was the main reason for me to get rid of all the other streamers/all-in-one systems I owned before my UQ2, i could easily "shuffle-play" the whole Library (300,000 tracks and counting) and could enjoy music without having to browse throughout the thousands of tracks and select the albums I'd like to play. I just had to sat back and press play on the remote to listen to various music without fiddling around.
It'd be great to allow the new Uniti range to do that again.

I did that way:
I accessed my UPNP Server/Nas shared drive through the Qute => my music Library => from there, the Qute displayed All tracks contained in the folder.
I just had to make sure I enable the random/shuffle mode using the remote and press play.
As simple as that. Once it started playing, even when using the app, the Qute would Stream all tracks with any limitation of any kind, and music would play randomly throughout the whole Library, all tracks

Personally at a loss to understand why anyone would wish to play random tracks from any collection, never mind one with 300,000 tracks (I make that at least 25,000 albums - staggering!).
You might just as well listen to Radio Paradise or similar. 95% of my albums are intended to be listened to 'in toto', with tracks in the order they were cut.
For me part of the pleasure is choosing which artist/album to play, very much dependent upon mood. No randomiser yet invented can determine what music would suit the moment.

Maybe, precisely because I just don't want to listen to the radio, we all listen to different artists, and different genres, we all have different habits and usage, and when it comes to music, i consider it being something not limited to a matter of tastes or moods.
And I do agree that no randomizer yet invented would determine what music would suit the moment; however, i can assure you that i did not find a radio station that would suit my tastes so far, and actually don't even search for one.

Well, finger crossed, my Atom just left home to the dealer's shop.
I hope they've had instructions from FOCAL to set up the HDMI circuit without any risk and ruining the beautiful casework.
I already can't wait to see it coming back home and foremost to listen to it.
