Loud Music Annoying Neighbours

Posted by: Consciousmess on 07 October 2017

Hi all, I’ve phrased this question as a title as I wonder if anyone has ever had this issue - either way, that is them knocking on your door or you knocking on theirs. Hopefully none knocking the other out!

Over my life I’ve had it three times. Once at university, once with a neighbour banging on my door screaming- my first Naim system 13 years ago, once in my last house as neighbour had a daughter with a baby sleeping. Now, my listening room is detached from neighbours so perfect!!

How about you??

What’s up with these people? Have they never heard of a broom? The exercise would do them good.

I have the same problem here. People from this part of Lombardia – brianzoli, from Brianza – have an obsession with tidiness, order (you know, the kind of people who put little chalk dwarfs on their lawns). The local administration sends people with motor leaf-blowers at barely 8 in the morning in seasons where leafs fall continuously, along with rain. It seems we are surrounded by idiots. But it must be me.

My neighbor upstairs told me she could here me playing my (acoustic) guitar and singing. She was not complaining one iota (in fact even intimated that she liked it), but the thought of someone hearing me sing left me horrified.

My upstairs neighbor is a man my age, we're friends and he plays the Tuba in the Communal wind ensemble. In summer I hear him practicing. He hears me playing. We live happily in a sort of unlikely symbiosis. No problem, thanks heaven.

Leaf blowers/suckers are very bloody loud.   When I use one, as nearby trees also drop tiny seeds that can't be swept up with a rake. I made a big mistake of using it in a more close confined area and nearly exploded my head and ears.   Read the instructions and noted that earphone protection is very recommended.

... which all reminds me of the song 'Autumn Leaves' which was used as an example of the introduction course Jazz Harmony during my studies ...

The guy on the other side of the fence is happy to listen some music sometimes. Better than listening to his wife i believe.
