Superunity + Mu-SO Qb?

Posted by: Javi A. on 11 October 2017

Hi to all!!

A long time since I do not write anything in the forum. I have a Superunity in my living room and I am planning to by a Qb for the kitchen. The idea is to stream everithing from the living room to the qb, including the analog FM, the digital input, UPNP and Tidal. Any experience with it? How do I select the kitchen in android app? Is is it possible to lisen to the FM via SU in the QB?

Thanks in advance... JAvi

ps: Is it possible to stream the SU signal to other brand via home-network?

You can't stream FM in multiroom to other streamers, you would have to use iRadio for that.

Not sure about non-Naim devices as clients, I suspect not!

To play your music in the kitchen, from the Superuniti you have to "add" the kitchen QB as a room on the app. Once the QB is installed, it will appear in addition to the Superuniti.
As mentioned above, you cannot stream FM radio from SU to QB.
I believe you can only stream from SU to another Naim product, not 3rd party.
I stream uPnP music from my NAS drive to multiple rooms, so cannot tell you if it's possible with Tidal etc. as I don't use those.

But the SU digitalizes the analog radio to send it through the Digital output, isn't it? I was looking how the multiroom works in any youtube video or similar... but there is no info about it :-(

You cannot send the SU FM to a Qb. Why you can’t I don’t know, but you can’t.

I may be wrong ... but i though "multi-room" on the SuperUniti (on all the "legacy" platform devices) was limited to what comes via the streaming module - so thats UPnP, iRadio, Tidal and Spotify.  No external inputs (neither analogue nor digital); nor as already said FM / DAB radio; are supported as multi-room sources.

Eloise, you're not wrong - I have a SU2 and Muso, and so can confirm that you can only multiroom what comes via the streaming module - not FM/DAB.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious here, but how do you listen to the same music on both Superuniti and Mu-so Qb simultaneously?  I have both devices showing as 'rooms' in the Naim app and can play one OR the other, but not both together.

I've looked at some Naim instructions and they refer to a Multiroom icon, but I can't see that anywhere.

In the now playing screen, you will see four little squares in the bottom right hand corner. Press the boxes and all will be revealed.

In the Naim app, select the music playing so that it is full screen (click on the little playing music bar at the bottom). Now in the bottom right of  the screen you should have a little icon of 4 squares. Click on that and it will bring up a multi room menu with your other devices, click on the Muso to add that.

Ah ha!  Thank you both so much.  I knew I must be missing something.  Speedy replies much appreciated.

Thanks for all your replies. I am thinking in adding a SPDIF splitter at SU digital output and add a bluetooth transmiter to connect a "standard" bluetooth speaker at kitchen.
