Atom + MuSo QB Multiroom
Posted by: Razer on 24 October 2017
Sorry for another question about multiroom between Uniti Atom and Mu-so Qb. The last post i noticed is from August, but nothing changed. Because of this feature i bought the Mu-so. Now other features like roon are implemented, but the basics are not done. Is there any information, when multiroom will work?
thanks in advance
Stephan
I have a Nova, and Multiroom works to my QBs, as long as I start a streaming session from a Qb and then multiroom to the Nova, I guess the Atom is the same. I can't start from the Nova and link to a Qb. Obviously that doesn’t help if you want to Multiroom a source connected to the Atom.
Same situation here with my atom and mu-so Qb ...
When is Naim Multiroom not Naim Multiroom?
In a “progress” update back on September 6th, the M.D. Trevor Wilson claimed this issue was a priority for them but they were still working to ensure stability and sound quality. Meanwhile, the web site is still showing videos with examples of using Multiroom from an Atom to a Mu-so.
It is over many months now, since the release of the Atom, that we have been hearing about the need for firmware updates on the Mu-so and Qb to resolve this problem. Today, being a Wednesday, is when we sometimes get these updates. I very much hope that today is the day we get some positive news from Naim. If not, please be open and honest with us about these stability and sound quality issues.

I've just upgraded from a Superuniti to the Nova and have been tearing my hair out trying to work out why Multiroom to a Qb (which worked fine on the SU) no longer functions. I should have known the answer would be on the forum! Here's hoping this gets sorted out soon. Do you get notified of a firmware update or do you have to go and check on the app?

The firmware update will be for the Qb as I understand it (also Mu-so and hopefully the original Uniti range). If you have registered your Qb then I would hope you would be notified but the App will indicate when one is available. Also, check the Atom updates post - even though you have a Nova!
From the responses I have had from raising this with Naim I would not hold my breath though. Get in touch with Naim directly while you still have some hair left.

Sorry - It is in fact just the Uniti updates post - even though it is the Mu-so range that will eventually have the update

Naim is great at many things. Communication isnt one of them
Thanks both for the responses. I've sent Naim Support an email and will post any reply I get.
I got the following reply on Monday from Phil Harris:
"At the moment I have no firm dates for the release of the updated SuperUniti firmware but I'm expecting Q1 next year..."
I replied pointing out that it was the Nova / Qb that I was interested in (not the Superuniti) , but no response to that yet, so I'm none the wiser really. Perhaps it was a slip of the keyboard and he meant Uniti Nova.

Or rather, a slip of the keyboard and he meant Qb. Remember, I have been told that it is the Mu-so firmware that needs updating to allow Multiroom from the new Atom range. I certainly hope that will be available this year!
I also want to include Multiroom to the original Uniti range but understand that fixing this is even less of the claimed priority for Naim.
