Yes, you need a device running the Roon Core app - PC/Mac/Raspberry Pi/Synology or QNap NAS for example.

The Apps on tablets/phones are controller apps only - you need the Core software for cataloguing music, streaming Tidal or rendering local music files to the Uniti streamer.

I presume you are talking about Roon? You need to set it up on a computer, which runs the 'Roon Core.' Then this can send audio to your Uniti and other devices.

i recently joined the Nova ‘club’ but don’t know where to find the 60 day Roon free trial offer - it’s only 14 days on the Roon website. Is there a way to get 60 days - perhaps via Naim?

I had an email from a Naim with the code for 60days embedded, I have had the Nova for a couple of months, e-mail arrived yesterday.

Many thanks - I only bought mine a few days ago and still need to register it with Naim - I’ll get that sorted. So far I’m really enjoying the Nova and have a secondhand 250dr arriving shortly 

That’s exactly what I did, though I planned to wait a year or so for the 250dr, but my dealer had one for a good deal and I could not resist. Sounds brilliant, enjoy..You do need to register which will hopefully trigger an email for a Roon trial.

I am coming to the end of a 14 day trial of the Nova and have decided it is a keeper so will register with Naim and hopefully get access to the Roon 60 day trial. Tidal CD quality streaming is very enjoyable and eventually I hope to add a Core to complete the system 

Yep I have the Core, and it works seamlessly with the Nova, not a computer lover so NAS stuff was not my cup of tea.

So what kind of benefit did the 250 bring to the table - I've felt the new range perhaps lacks a Nova style pre-amp alone.

I have a a couple of old 250's, and will pair up with the Nova when I have a chance.

A 250 Dr really tightens up the soundstage, but keeps the musicality, I paid a little over £2k for a second hand one from my dealer, worth it. That being said my plan was to wait a year or so, but then I would probably pay the same price or more?

Sounds like a good deal, can't blame you going for that.  A shame I can't upgrade my 250s to DR, they're just a bit too old.
