can't believe the difference

Hi to everyone I've stripped my hifi today, tightened the legs on my rack and plugged and unplugged the cables and same with powerlines  then I dressed all cables the best I could and managed to get all cables off the floor and just left the powerlines on the floor dead neatly what a difference it has made to the sound quality.

Great. When it comes to hifi cleaning it's best to make a day of it and relax into it.

I use this to spray onto some kitchen paper then use on all cables, then onto the shelves, then over the speakers and the chassis.

Then use this on the pins of power plugs and all other metal contacts. ( I don't use any din )

And of course a good vacuuming and moping around and under.

Is Kontak the same as Brasso?

A decent whisky or gin is just as good. Or proper industrial alcohol

Bear in mind though that Naim strongly advise against using so-called contact enhancing liquids on any connections within a Naim system as they can create a film. Just remake contacts every so often. Plenty on the forum on this over the years, so worth doing a search.

Yes drinking either will enhance the experience. I'd pass on the industrial alcohol....

This must be good whisky for cleaning hifi cables. The music will probably sound a bit darker - since this probably mediocre whisky is coloured too. For proper whisky go to Van Wees in Amersfoort :-)

Yes. When using the Kontak, i use a small amount applied then with vigorous buffing to dry and remove any trace. Easier with power cable pins and rca.  Wouldn't recommend bnc, xlr and din as too fiddly.  As RD recommended, just the in out in method.

when the other half came in after work and witnessed me buffing up  the power cables, she must have wondered how it all led to this.

Thanks for the tip!  This small place from Johnny walker at the schiphol airport - very cozy and comfortable. I have tried the “gold route” over there
