Considering upgrading from my Rega Ela Mk2's for use with naim nC122X/NAP250 with LP12 Ittok DV20L

Love the Ela's but wonder if upgrade worthwhile, need to position within a few inches of back wall for domestic reasons.

love Ela's with natural female acoustic material and love their involvement, looking for same but with a bit more of everything.

any help most appreciated

Try some SBLs. You could also do with a better preamp. If it’s an olive 250, an 82 would go very nicely.

Although I’m not a source first disciple I would follow HH’s recommendation with regard to the Pre

Tricky. The Ela is a lovely loudspeaker and might be a tough act to follow - sonically and within the limits of aesthetic acceptance. Its bass loading is unusually sophisticated for a loudspeaker in this price-bracket.

Have a listen to Kudos X2, X3 and Russell K 120.

Good luck.

John.

Highly recommend you try Totem options if you can. Ignore their out from wall guide. They surprise in all placements and will follow the Rega voicing while being an upgrade. Hawk or Forest. Having said that I do agree on a pre upgrade though. You may well be surprised what the Ela's still have to give.

Not familiar with the Rega speakers, and there's no mention of budget, but I am guessing you're looking in the £2 - 3k bracket.  If so, I too would recommend having a listen to Kudos X3s.  I bought a pair around 3 months ago, after they smashed the competition for me in a dealer demo session, and vs the Proac D18s I had previously.  Speakers are weird creatures in my view.  While you can often get a consensus of approval regarding electronics, speakers appear to be a different matter.  However, for what it's worth, I was sold from the moment I heard them in my dealer's demo room, and just hoped they would sound the same at home.  They did, and still do. Love 'em.
