Network Backup for Core

Hi

Anyone success backup the core music through network ? I didn't seen any drive when I create the backup, am I miss some step ?

I have never gotten a backup to complete successfully, it is a source of endless frustration and they don't give error messages or logs that are of any use.

I'd avoid using the built in core backup/restore functionality till it has been shown to work properly. In my experience, it doesnt at the moment.

So strange on their software team have test it before release to market ?

I have spent a good deal of time trying to troubleshoot it. I wish they would allow a little better peak under the hood, there is no logging or any kind of error message as to what file it fails on or what is happening. I turned on CIFS logging on my Synology to see if it was doing something in particular at time of failure but just hit a dead end. I really wish it would get fixed - I really like the Core but the backup functionality which I consider critical is just plain broken.

Trevor Wilson said in his recent post on the Uniti progress thread that the next Core firmware update will include better share discovery so we can hope that this will enable backup across a network. Backup into a USB HD works fine for me, although formatting the drive was a real hit and miss pain, but that is also mentioned as fixed in Trevor's post.
