Black Cat Silverstar 75 Digital BNC Cable
Posted by: Nina on 12 November 2017
I was thinking of using a decent BNC cable between transport and dac and have come up with Black Cat Silverstar 75 which seems to have received very good reviews and was wondering if anyone is using it and what they thought of it
I couldn't help myself so I've ordered the Black Cat Silverstar 75
I belong to another forum and the cable comes very highly recommended and was described as "last cable you'll buy"
I will let everyone know what I think of it and I have it on a 10 day sale or return so it's a no-brainer really, and cheaper than a new DC1
Has anyone compared the Hi-Line interconnect to the standard one supplied with the CD player? And is my system good enough to show any difference?
Received the Black Cat Silverstar 75 cable today
Just placed it between CD5XS and Dac and will give it a good listen before I report back with my views on it's sound
Very interested, your post on this cable will be a useful addition to the forum. I still have my DC1 on loan....
Gazza my very initial thoughts are 'just lovely'...
The Black Cat seems to take out any remaining 'digital nastiness' ... super smooth it is...
Thank you, give it some time and give us your next thoughts. I hope to return the DC1 and put the money to a Fraim instead. All the cable mess is a priority for me at the moment, asi have an AV stand doing everything.

Gazza I thought you were liking the DC1 cable so are you now returning it?
Yes I will buy one, but with cables falling out and trying to fit in with the PIoneer plasma etc. I think if I can get an ex demo Fraim and put that on the other side of the fire place and move all the HIfi to my other power sockets, it’s a better solution. I can still play Unpnp or digital BNC and have time to take stock of your thoughts, or you never know when I return it I may get a Black Friday deal......
No problem Gazza... I will report back with further insight into the Black Cat Silverstar cable
I've had the Black Cat in place for a couple of days now
My overriding thought is that it sounds very 'analogue', however I'm not very good at describing what I hear but that's the best I can come up with at the moment
Smooth, detailed and just lets the music flow very nicely
I don't know if that helps anyone
Returned my DC1 today and collected my much more expensive Fraim system ,more shelves to follow. However, I still feel the Uniti Core spdif sounded better than Upnp with the DC1. Not sure if this is because it’s not going thru much different circuits before the DAC. So interested in your feedback over the next few weeks, this is still on my radar.

Hope you love your new Fraim Gazza
The Black Cat cable is sounding better by the day
I will leave further feedback over the coming days/weeks
But bare in mind I am really useless when I try to describe 'sound'...
So I am I. Some of the guys on the forum are just brilliant at relaying the sense of wonder at new musical experiences. Just between us, tongue tied lesser poets, I think I can settle for a big thumbs up or down in a few weeks time, enjoy.

Well just between us Gazza I can certainly give the Black Cat cable a thumbs up so far.... that might grow to a big thumbs up over the days/weeks though, we will see
I also have been listening to Goldfrapp, Leonard Cohen and some Agnes Obel...

chord signature tuned array is a big step better than the dc1 and works marvelously with naim. or even chord indigo signature for the same price as the dc1.

Glad you like the Chord cables FR
But I will not be returning my Black Cat cable as I think it is super.. and getting better by the day.. I am very happy indeed with it
I've just checked and the Chord Signature Tuned Array is £750 for 1metre and the Chord Indigo Signature is £975 for 1metre... which are both way above what I have to spend on a digital cable
Try Belden 1694A with BNC-connectors. Available on eBay and BJC. I used DC1 between my USB bridge and nDAC for years and recently decided to do a little comparison between DC1 and few other cables. I also had Canare in the mix and found it to sound clearly inferior to other cables. Belden 1694A came up on top. DC1 is good and has the Naim signature sound but falls short in many other aspects like resolution and extension. You should find my impressions on the forum with search. It costs only around 20-30 euros so saved me quite a lot money also. I sold my DC1 and haven't looked back.
I just checked my old digital cable and found it is the Belden 1694A BNC. Not the Canare £25 I thought earlier.
I was very happy with it in place of DC1.

I am definitely not parting with my lovely Black Cat cable... it's just lovely
If a cable can be 'lovely' that is.....

yes, i just responded at the beginning of your topic, not knowing you had already the black cat cable... i am glad too for you that you enjoy this cable i didn’t know before.... I shared just my experience with chord cable vs dc1.

i must be wrong, it was not indigo signature...the price of the chord was near the dc1 when i tried it a year ago between my nds and unitserve. But today i don’t use anymore a digital cable but ethernet ( upnp mode for nds/ unitserve).
At that time this chord cable was sounding better than the dc1 i borrowed. Anyway the most important is that you enjoy your black cat.
Thanks FR yes I love the sound of the Black Cat
I have it on 10 days sale or return but It's going nowhere... and it lets the Naim 'boogie' shine through... which is nice
