hello. I am preparing myself to purchase Uniti Nova. While studying the online manual I found this 'UPnP file browsing can only be carried out using the Naim app' - does this mean that the remote is cannot be used as a...remote? I understand from this that I cannot scroll down or up and choose the file to play? If this is true I am a bit worried as for some reason I always found the remote in the old Uniti the best tool to control the unit. Ipad is always somwhere taken by children or discharged (same goes with the phone) so the remote is always the quickest. Additionally to use phone or Ipad there is always need to unlock it first, start the application etc while remote does not need these additional steps. Is there any way of getting around it?

That would appear to be correct, my Nova screen shows all options except “server” which is on the App. Hit server on the App and I then browse my music on the Core. In terms of the remote and screen I have written to Naim that the icons are too small at a distance. They can be personalised, eg I have one called TV. If they could be colour coded as well it would sort the screen size problem. If you have to get out of the chair to read the screen, might as well just use the buttons on the Nova.

Other than the above, it’s great.

It's explicitly stated in the FAQ on the Support section of the Nova pages, which makes it sound like a long term decision.

Thanks Gazza and Eoink for replies. I wonder why such decision was made. The remote which is supplied with Nova appears to be perfectly capable of managing such task as browsing throught the folder list. I know the screen may be small but it is much bigger than in the old Uniti series so looking at it to check what I want to play shold be less of a problem.

I don't even use it for volume, I use the app for that as well, it sits next to the Nova and looks shiny.

I have always used the iPhone and iPad to control everything on my MuSo and 272... Not even sure where the remote is...

For me that was a no go and a point not to buy the nova. I don't understand whats the problem,

on my uniti 2 its no problem to use the remote and to browse through my library.
