What close wall speakers would you recommend around £8000

Enough for a 552 DR + 300 DR?
I’m immensely happy with my sound, but domestic commitments - toddler not pulling cables out of speakers - is a big issue. And it’s getting worse as she grows. So I may part exchange and get some wall based speakers leaving a nice big play area and less worry of speaker and amp damage.
Oh yeah, daughter damage too.
Any suggestions??!
Audio Note speakers.
dont spend so much until she.s more controlled!
SBLs or SL2s would be a perfect and inexpensive stop gap.

Eight grand plus a troublesome daughter?
Easy, sell your daughter to slavers for £1k, and you can afford Kudos 606 for £9k
Debs
Audiovector SR3 signature or SR3 Avantgarde.

I've been looking for similar speakers but more likely active , maybe a bit left field but recently I heard Dutch and Dutch 8c Actives and they were very very impressive indeed , in fact they are a complete system with DACs included but they can be used in analogue domain . They are full range and designed to go up to 10cm from the rear wall . Very interesting concept .
If you for some reason don’t like sl2s, you could have a look at Larsen speakers they are designed to be placed against walls.

That’s an interesting comment. SL2s retailed at over £6,000 when discontinued, and would probably cost over £8,000 if made today. So they could potentially be a long term solution that saves £6,000. The grilles would need to be secured with elastic though, which wouldn’t look very good. I wonder if Ovator 400s would work, as they have metal grilles.
Why spend 8k when 1k buys the Proac Tab 10
I just wouldn't have expensive speakers until she's past the inquisitive stage or you have a separate listening room...
Having recently gone through one accidentally pushed over speaker (when learning to walk) followed by pushed in bass cone domes (PMC do make robust speakers !!) it's somewhat changed my thinking on expensive speakers for now ...
Shahinian’s? Cables go underneath the cabinets and into the bottom panel having doubled back on themselves. Impossible to pull them out. Get Diapasons and no chance she’ll ever be able to push them over either. Oh, and the sound..!

Diapasons for you too then James!

We're easing in gently with Compasses first
I've recently run my speaker cables under the floorboards, having just moved the system into a room with a suspended floor. In fact, I had no choice, as there were doorways etc. in the way. I've noticed that youngsters like to grab hold of cables and yank them, so this might be an advantage.
I happened to see a pair of Ovators the other day, and the sockets were only just above floor level, which makes them quite discrete. No big loop of cable for an overexcited toddler to swing on.
Other than that, heavy floor standers that can't be pushed over, with grilles on to hide the drivers from prying fingers. I'm not a believer in excluding children from any form of music, or any other aspect of life. Part of the responsibility, and joy of bringing up children, is to help them to experience the wide variety of life, culture, etc. for themselves, not to see it as some weird thing that their sad old dad does in a room on his own, scowling at them if they go near his funny looking boxes.
I used Harbeth SHL5s on weighted Skylan stands when my daughter was younger. She would even like to hide near them and no issues. She wasn't interested in cable pulling.
I agree with Chris in keeping music part of daily living. When she was old enough, I showed her how to use the cd player, etc.
Good luck with your kid friendly speaker search!

I had Larsen's top of the line Model 8 (circa $7K) home with my SN2. While their unorthodox reflective directionality worked well on the upper end in my room I could find no positioning of the speakers where the bass, deep as it was, did not perform as anything but flabby and tardy.

What are your walls made of?
The Larson 8s caught my eye as the bastard child of NBLs and Shahinians, the NBLs need a solid wall to work against.

For the first time I would have to disagree. I fear audiovectors would be a bad match for a determined toddler. They are too high and too narrow in that context. In all other situations it is a strong contender for a fantastic pair of speakers.

Wow quite an array of suggestions. The wall to the rear of the speakers is external i.e. not plasterboard and I’ll be honest I didn’t expect as many high end (they are to me) speakers to be wall based. I thought the space behind them was necessary to give a 3D image.
i was aware of just the SL2 but is that not dated? I hear where you come from about her growing up, but I love it when I play music and she just rocks front and back. Until she grabbed the speaker cable on the right speaker. And she’s getting stronger every day.
A New Year project perhaps?
I never found expensive speakers a problem with young children - just keep the grills on. (of course, top-heavy stand mounters, or maybe very narrow designs like PMC Fact 12 may becanother matter). What was a problem with young children was an accessible arm and cartridge on a turntable - the arm survived, but a replacement cartridge was an unwelcome cost at a time of high mortgage payments etc.

My front wall is an exterior-facing wall of the house. It's 2x6 framing covered with painted drywall. The exterior side is R-19 fiberglass insulation, OSB, #15 felt paper, and HardiePlank siding. The walls probably act as bass traps to some degree. I suppose the Model 8 might perform better in the bass range against a brick wall. Still, I can't imagine that bass ever qualifying as tight which is really what I'm looking for from a speaker in that price range.
Yeah I hear where you’re coming from Innocent Bystander; I’ve put a fire guard round the entire system. She is so intrigued with the green lights, and uses the bars to stand up - but as you know kids meddle and what I can’t protect are the protruding wires from the rear of the speakers. I used some nappy boxes held in place by the speaker weight, but... well the bass became a boom and no control!!!
Not a sound a listener wants when they’ve progressed up the Naim ladder.
CONSCIOUSMESS. If I was in your lucky position, I would be very keen on trying Tannoy Kensington GR. can even go in the corners, as well as against a wall. Looks intimidating enough to scare of little ones. Has a locking grill. Looks like a piece of furniture. If you like it in black ash you can get them for just a shade above 8k ( walnut is 12k !)
Can imagine them looking all a piece in Osborne mansion kicking out early Black Sabbath !!
