Frank Abela

Posted by: jon h on 17 November 2017

just a short note to say I have just read on Facebook that frank is deeply unwell with a brain tumour. His wife Judith posted the news overnight and it has come as a complete shock to many, myself included.

A serious Naim user and, I believe, dealer for the company in Malta?

im sure you will join me in sending him our best wishes and thoughts.

From reading his posts a true gentelman.I wish him to be well soon.

I just read this on Facebook.   As many have guessed, without meeting him, Frank is one of those people who is incredibly welcoming and never fails to get you smiling and laughing.  This was particularly the case the last time I met Frank at Audio-T and I was going through a very bad patch in life.

Much love to Frank, Jude, family and friends.

From another US based Forum member. Such sad news about Frank. His posts are always informative and filled with good old fashioned common sense. When I was thinking about making a major change to my system, Frank took the time to send me a personal email with some of his ideas for me based on his experience. I adopted some of his ideas and they served my system well. Best wishes to you Frank and to all of your family and friends.

Like many others I don’t know Frank but he always stands out as someone who offers good non biased advice. Seems like a decent guy. I wish him all the best.

Many years ago i lost a very dear friend due to a brain tumour, however i have since also known two colleague friends who actually survived after much treatment and surgery, so there is hope, and i hope and wish Frank the best possible outcome despite all the implications.

I met a Frank many times and we connected often on the forum, I have always found him to be a true gentlemen with a beaming smile. I think he truly loved being involved in the industry and the time he could spend here with fellow forum buddies means a lot to him, I wish Frank and his family my deepest feelings of hope to help them through this truly tough time.

This is such a dreadful shock. Like many others, I always read his words of great wisdom. Those who've met him are indeed lucky to have shared some time with such a wise and kind man, and such a dedicated Naim fan. My thoughts and prayers join everybody else's, in the hope that he may yet pull through.

Terrible news, that same horrible disease took our son in law four months after his 30th birthday after an 11 months battle. I sympathise and understand some of what Frank's family must be going through.

I almost feel like I know Frank after many years of reading his thoughtful and knowledgeable posts on the forum.

This is sad news. I have enjoyed Franks informed contributions to this forum and my thoughts are with him and his family.

Dear Frank,

we exchanged many more posts than we knew each other, sometimes agreeing with each other, sometimes not. Yours always finished with an assumption of responsibility for all opinions expressed. For once, I wish this all was about someone else instead.

Get well soon,

with friendship

Max

Always enjoyed his contributions here and had only recently wondered why he seemed to be absent. He was a member of a number of FB groups and, like here, always posted thoughtful comments.

I trust he remains in a comfortable state.

I only know Frank Abela by his thoughtful posts over the years. I wish him the very best and hope he will recover soon.

So deeply saddened to hear this, even though I never met Frank, I always looked on his opinion as one that could be trusted and one that was delivered in an honest way. I truly hope that something can be done in some way to help his situation. So many like me that don't know him personally wishing that they did as his words were always helpful and informed.

Best to you kind Sir,

Mario

As many of you have said, Frank is indeed a true gentleman. A more wonderful friend and college one could not meet. I have had the great pleasure to know and work with him this past 20 years only to be robbed of his company in late 2016 by his life long dream to set up his own hifi shop with Jude back home in Malta only to be thwarted by this devastating blow. I was able to visit Frank and Jude last month whilst he was in hospital, clearly very unwell but he still had his cheeky, infectious smile and laugh. Today's news is deeply saddening. Love to you both. Simon

Sad news indeed. A lovely man. I chatted with him at Hi-Fi shows on several occasions. His knowledge and enthusiasm was always entertaining and infectious, and shall be missed.

Best wishes to Frank and his loved ones.

John.

Jon, many nice things have been said in this thread, and it would be a pity if Frank's family and Frank himself don't get to read them.

It sounds as if you have direct contact with his wife - can I suggest suggesting to his wife that she obtain from Frank if possible his log-in details and log in, to show him and read herself. Should this be too late for that, perhaps Naim could arrange for her to have access enabled.

I never knew Frank, and my knowledge of him through the forum was limited, but clearly he is held in the highest regard by many on here.

Sad news.  I seem to be seeing a lot of brain tumours this year.  My Canadian brother-in-law and one of my University flatmates have both died from this condition this year.

I hope for a peaceful end for Frank.

Very sad news.  I have so much appreciated the contributions from and exchanges with Frank, on this forum - nearly half a planet away for me.  Honor and affection to Frank, his family and friends.
