Naim NAC A5 bi-wire adapter (DIY)

Posted by: naka on 20 November 2017

I have proudly just finished a pair of bi-wire adapters that allows me to use my NAP150x amplifier and Naim NAC A5 speaker cable with my bi-wire-only vintage Roksan Darius and the results are great!

These adapters are made using a aluminium cases and high quality Hicom banana plugs. The cable is, of corse, Naim NAC A5 (direct from plug to plug) and I have use a shielding sheet inside the box, between the two runs of cables.

They look very nice. Though, and without wishing to appear in any way negative, as they introduce more connections, wouldn’t a simple F connection be better?

Looks nice. Still on my list of things to do. Will retire in 30 years so looking forward to it.

I thought of that but the Roksan's external crossovers don't have the space required for the F connection... and I has thinking about doing this adapters for a long time, because I have always believed that the loss caused by a couple of supplementary connectors are marginal... I am glad that it worked well

Neat work. Weren't you the chap trying to bi-amp the Darius speakers and running into issues ?

Hello! Yes I am

I gave up on the bi-amp set-up after trying it with my other speakers: KEF LS50. The sound was more powerfull but less coerent than with a single 150x.

By the way, the LS50 are amazing!!
