Which speakers next?

Hello to all, I have enjoyed for many years my B&W 602 s2s  but I would now like to replace with new speakers. Running a Naim Uniti & rega 3 where do most people think I should go next to get the best from my system? Trying to stay under £1200 . Thanks & a merry Xmas to all.

Hey. Maybe take a look at clearing stock of Spendor A5R if you can accommodate floorstanders. For that budget, I was able to find my current speakers, which are the B&W PM 1, with their own stands. Luckily, I was able to audition before purchasing, and of course they performed better than similarly priced (new) Neats, Spendors, Harbeths. Granted, this is all with nap200, so I don't know if the first uniti is able to drive them properly. Martin Logan motion 15 are also well worth considering.

Hi,

I think the best advice from here on, is to pop down to your local dealer and have a good listen to the many highly regarded contenders which are frequently praised here.

Dynaudio, Focal, Kudos, Neat, PMC ... to name but a few.

Hey everybody. First time back on the Forum for a few years. Plenty of new things to discuss.

Re the OP, I picked up a Uniti a couple of years ago and also Stirling LS3/5A V2 to go with them. A really great match with a fabulous sound.  Lovely speakers in a Zebrano finish. Sit nicely on Linn Kan II stands (I still have the Kans of course).  Well worth a trial and within budget.

V best regards to all.

With the available budget I'd only look secondhand. The option there is either do plenty of background digging and identifying some contenders to look out for, or contact a number of dealers and see what they have as secondhand/preloved stock and go to listen (making sure you hear with your amp). The main problem with secondhand, especially if you are open-minded about age (and most decent speakers last for decades)  is that the market is wide open - it is a problem because it can be so hard to decide what to go for!

If you want good suggestions it may help to identify the size and characteristics of your room, and any particular preferences you have regarding sound of speakers.

I would go for PMC there are lots of PMC 23 floor standers for that money that would sound great with a Unit.

Thanks for all the info so far, i am now putting a list together to speak to my local dealer {lintone audio} these guys are great & have been dealing with them since the 80s.

Ah, good old Lintone. I’ve carted huge speakers in there for auditioning purposes on more than one occasion...

They do carry both ex-dem and s/h stock, and of course what they have is constantly changing, so even if they don’t have something suitable now, that can change.
