Flat Earth Resurrection

Nothing that I've yet encountered could persuade me to give up the Naim equipment I now own and enjoy. Perhaps an improved version of what I have (i.e. a 372, a vastly improved Muso), but that's about it. I have no interest whatsoever in so called 'upgrading'. The system I have thrills me every time I listen to it. I'm happy to concede there will undoubtedly be better ones out there, but I am content with what I have (and I really mean it, unlike others I could mention).
What I don't get is the high proportion of contributors to this forum who seem to be constantly seeking some sort of Holy Grail, whether it be by spending a fortune on the next 6 boxes, lengths of ever more exotic teflon coated cable, unbelievably complex racks and supports for every bit of equipment. Whilst stopping short of Peter Belt, there is a lot of 'left of centre' stuff going on here. Cable dressing and 'de-stressing', exotic (and very expensive) patch cables, dedicated 10mm mains supplies, pseudo scientific tosh from those intelligent enough to know better - the list goes on and on. As for the venerated High Priests and their sycophantic sheep like followers - words fail me!!
It seems next to impossible to simply share musical experiences on here - even the Music Room is over populated with those fixated on vinyl or those who own 127 variants of the same album, searching in vain for the ultimate (to their ears at least) in sound quality.
A search on Google reveals that, for the last 20 years or more, Naim devotees have had a reputation as Flat Earthers. I'm now beginning to understand why. There appears, to my eyes, to be a recent significant increase in the number of fanatics who manage to shout down everyone who doesn't fall into line with their self-opinionated, arrogant, comfortably off middle class 'conservative' perspective on the world of hi-fi.
I will undoubtedly continue to occasionally dip in and out, primarily to pick up listening inspiration, but my days as an active contributor are at an end. I wish you all well - may you eventually find whatever it is you're looking for (but I somehow doubt it!).
