Super Lumia - can you convert speaker to signal?

Can you convert S/L speaker cable to signal cable by changing the plugs at the ends?

More specifically, I have 5m S/L speaker leads and I want to change from passive to active amplification, so can I re-terminate the 5m lengths from 4mm speaker plugs to din and XLR (dual mono leads, in fact) ?   (When I say 'I' here, I mean Naim... could Naim re-terminate these cables)

...or is there a fundamental difference between the speaker version and the signal versions of S/L that I have failed to appreciate?

I believe that they are fundamentally different in  their make up and construction.  You should talk to your dealer about trading the speaker leads towards the interconnects.

I own the Superlumina full loom at home and there is a difference :

SL speaker cables, interconnect and din to XLR have a different diameter...

No - they are totally different cables. The speaker cable is twin-balanced and high current capable and the interconnect leads are coaxial low current low-level signal leads. Different purposes for each - speakers need a high voltage high current capable feed and all the other boxes need a low-level voltage feed.

Thankyou to Richard, LI & DB... it was a good idea while it lasted         ...I'll do as Richard suggested.

Hi DB

I wasn't aware the SL interconnects are still coax - thought it was a multi-conductor approach similar to the one that Vertere uses "Pulse" configuration.

However after hearing both - I'm convinced they are not the same cables at all. Naim still keeps the Naim leading edge/rhythmic Naim sound and Vertere got the Vertere house sound. They are different.

I wonder if there is any benefit in using SL rather than standard XLR leads with the ATCs you’ve been trying.
