Qobuz stream - no picture on Nova

Posted by: fbl01 on 02 December 2017

Hello, still "running in" my Naim Nova and speakers (Audio Physic Avanti). What a quality! But why, when streaming from Qobuz, no picture of the album appears in the Naim window? Anybody an idea?

Grtz., Frank (NL).

I don't think Chromecast supports this assuming that's what you're using.

That's correct. Qobuz uses Chromecast. Than is Qobuz not such a good idea...

I think it's a Chromecast limitation not a Qobuz one to be honest,

Interestingly, BBC iPlayer Radio streaming to Nova Chromecast displays a picture on the Nova screen. This is good for catch-up where you can seek to time. It really is cast. You can turn off your iPhone.

With SoundCloud, you get album artwork on the screen of my Atom, so I guess the limitation lies with the way each source has implemented Chromecast. With iPlayer you just see a logo, and with Qobuz, nothing.

I've noticed other inconsistencies between Chromecast sources. For example, with Qobuz, the iPhone volume buttons control the Atom, but one push of the button causes a jump of 7 steps on the Atom, which is way too much. With SoundCloud, it only goes up 2 steps, which is fine. With iPlayer, the iPhone buttons don't control the Atom volume at all. Best of all is Tidal - the iPhone + button increases the Atom volume by 10 steps, and the - button also increases the volume by 10 steps, so keeping the remote close by is a good idea!
