Muso QB Gone Silent (Mostly)

Posted by: Gavin B on 07 December 2017

I seem to be having a problem with my Qb. It's not working on iRadio or UPNP inputs. The ipod input is working fine.

The little LED is white suggesting it's connected to the network. I can see it and control it via the Naim app on my ipad but if i select iradio or upnp I get nothing.

For iradio, the while light around the volume dial pulses as if it's trying to connect, but nothing happens. I don't get any stream info displayed through the app. This is on more than one station (inc BBC). If I try upnp, I can add stuff to the play queue. The bottom status bar looks like its getting ready to start the fist track, but there's no sound. The track details appear in the bottom bar as if it's going to play, but then disappears. The volume thing gives the same pulsing as if it's trying to connect but presumably is failing.

Anyone experience anything similar?

Any ideas?

How is your home network set up? Are you using WiFi? This sounds like it could ba LAN issue, but hard to say without knowing what you have.

Have you tried turning it off - pull out the mains plug from the back - for a couple of minutes and then turning it on again?

Router reboot has sorted it!

There's been a few funny things happening to the network since my attempts to swap to Cisco switches. More checking needed.

It was so much easier when we all just played records. I’m pleased it’s sorted out.

Yes the old turn everything off and on again trick has worked for me and my Qb in the past when exactly the same problem you describe occurred. Thank goodness for that comedy series The I.T. Crowd! Initial panic soon quelled. Enjoy your Qb it is a superb little piece of kit.

I suppose my initial confusion was that there still seemed to be Wi-Fi control, and internet access (on the laptop I initially posted on).

I've certainly relied on rebooting the router in recent days (Cisco switches) and it's evident that I don't know enough about many of the intricacies of networking / internet access.
