Uniti Nova

Hi All

Currently, have a Unitiqute 2 with some Kef R500's. Love the Kefs but going to upgrade the Qute. Have my eye on the new Nova but have reservations about investing that much money in a one box setup. I know the price of a Nova new isn't going to get me much of a seprates system, but what would you do?

Ps I only stream my music and use Tidal FLAC, also use the Qute for the TV as the Tv speakers are pants!

Many thanks

THe Nova is a very capable one box player, should be for the price. And will be a step up in performance, future proofed as the new Naim architecture. Go take a listen.

Reports seem to be favourable and everyone who's posted, reckons the Nova is a significant improvement over the SuperUniti.
Given that to be true, I would have absolutely no hesitation in buying a Nova.
I currently own the SuperUniti in one of my systems and into Neat Elite SX, it sounds brilliant. The Nova should be even better!

You won’t get much of a separates system for £4k, but if this is a route you ultimately intend to take, you would certainly get a very nice used system. The Nova is a very good all-in-one, though, and the HDMI ARC input is good for TV sound.

£4,000 would get you very close to a used 272/250DR, and would be more than enough for a 272 and non-DR 200. It depends on how important the new features of the Nova are to you.

There are lots of alternatives if you're spending £4k but if a one box solution appeals you shouldn't have any hesitation about choosing a Nova.  Mine is not going back.

I have heard the Nova with the new Focal Kanta speakers and it is very good. But it is a final solution or dead-end should you want to upgrade in future. This can be looked upon as a good thing as you avoid the Naim upgrade treadmill.

You could of course go for a second hand 272/250DR. I have not compared this combo to a Nova but I suspect it would outperform the 'one-boxer'. But as soon as you go for separates you are far more susceptible to the dreaded upgraditis, and that can be expensive to cure. For some it is indeed incurable.

One this is for sure you won't go wrong with either the Nova or 272/250DR in terms of sound per pound.

Has anyone got or tried a Chord 2Qute into Supernait 2 as this could well be an option.

Hi Popeye

i used to use a Chord Hugo 1,fed the digital signal from a Unitiqute 2...into a Supernait 2/Highcap DR.At the time I thought it was quite good, then I demo’d a 272/250DR,My Speakers At That time were Dynaudio focus 160s.To me,the 272/250 DR was a lot better, and less boxes, and redundancy,so I talked to my dealer about trading in,and made a deal.
