Universal remote for Nova

Posted by: pgmvveld on 17 December 2017

I used to have a Uniti2 and a universal remote control (Logitech Harmony One). Since this weekend the Uniti2 is no more and is replaced by a Nova. So far so good.

However the Nova remote control uses RF instead of Infrared (IR) which means my universal remote control is not able to control the Nova.

That is a shame as with a single button I could for instance switch on the TV, setup box and have the Uniti2 select the correct input source. Now I need 2 remote controls again for each type of activity.

Has anyone else experienced the same and more importantly is there a solution available? I tried finding universal remote controls which can handle RF-devices as well, but to no avail.

Does your TV have an HDMI input labelled 'ARC'? If so then you can connect the TV up to the HDMI input on the Nova. This will carry sound, but provided the control functionality is enabled on your TV, when you switch your TV on this should automatically switch the Nova to the HDMI input and allow volume control with the TV remote.

All other functionality should be handled by the app.

I am harmony user to and just got an Atom and would love some solution. The US have a harmony hub extender which adds RF control and I searched compatibility and it says it supports the Atom. Shame it's not available here been out in US since 2015. No idea if it would work with UK hubs though.
