*grits teeth* Congratulations Justin.

I was a little later but hoped for an early Christmas present. At best it looks like it will be a perfectly timed one now.....

How's it been? I've got a Qb which was pretty straightforward to set up. The next challenge will be getting the speakers past Mrs R....????

Ok well... started out sounding very good and very different from my Uniti 2. Even my wife commented that it sounded different and she liked the newer sound. Then a couple days later it seemed the sound relaxed... way too much! It seems now that the top-end is coming back, but it’s still mellower then the U2 was, which is fine with me because I find my Dynaudio Focus 260s to be extremely neutral and so the slightly forward sounding U2 seemed like at times it was too aggressive of a setup. Now I feel like there’s a little better balance to the whole system.

Now almost a week later the Star sounds as if the top-end is returning with some sparkle and just enough grit. Detail retrieval and space between notes and instruments is much better then the U2, along with tonal definition.

Fascinating stuff, given its "electronicse and shouldn't very. I'm not sure a toddler and 2 dogs will allow me such finessed opinion but The Wheels On The Bus will sound good whatever.

No word from Santa...

It's finally arrived, via a wrong delivery address and possibly being lobbed over our gate

For the record, sourced from Peter Tyson and I'm going to be unveiling the Eclipse 508 Mk3s to Mrs R this evening...

Are those the speakers you’ll be using with the Star?

HI all, I had mone on order for a long time and got one of the first ones in October after relying on a QB for the past 18 months.

It has taken sometime to discover all of the feaures of the Star but I am impressed and very satisfied. Build quality and looks ar superb as is the remote. Sound quality from all sources and inputs are clean and crisp. Strwaming works brillianlty and I use an Ipad with Naim APP in addition to the remote. Using the Ipad you can direct the stream to the Star from lots of sources including Spotify, and the BBC radio APP. I can also control the Star and QB from the PC from Spotify.

The ripping works well to a USB hard drive.

I have paired it with Neat Iota Alphas after doing some listening at my local Audio T. The small size and floor standing Alphas meet with Mrs K's approval. Having tried different speakers the Alphas with their ribon tweeters stood them apart form more expensive and large speakers. The generation of all audible frequencies and their filling of our living room from the Star and Alphas are a delight.

We can simultaneously play the same source through both the Star and QB although it took a bit of time to work out the best way to do it.

Overall a very happy customer!

Yes. I tested the focal alpha, td307 and 508 .Speaker reviews are very personal bit the 508s had a little bit more than the alphas for me. The 307s were too weak. In the end I went with the ones that made me smile more as I heard things I'd never heard before

Good to see a positive report kayakpete .I've got a Qb as well but it's in a different building so it' have to go some on the volume!
